Where would I find a nice high flow drop in filter? Will I hear an improvement in the way the car sounds?

I have always used K&N...but I have been told BSR and Maptune offer a better quality and flowing filter system.

I just use a generic AEM truck filter. You can fit them onto a cheapo 3" pipe from any auto parts store.

Why ?
The stock airbox is good for approx 400 hp without any noise increase.
I have heard over 400 HP by adding secondary snorkel tubes going to the reverse side of the airbox.

I agree...i think the same goes for the Saab 9-3 SS...most of the HP increase comes from the exhaust end of the system...Its not like a GM LS engine that needs massive amounts of air to create peak HP

Welcome to the link - be sure to post some pictures of your car!

As for intake - you need to start with these two items;

http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/p...e9bc3245de896b

$25

http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/p...e9bc3245de896b

$42.50

If that air cleaner isn't good enough there is also this route (although the drop in will surfice for 400hp...)
http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/p...e9bc3245de896b

$80

After you have those two items and a good tune upgrade consider this -
http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/p...e9bc3245de896b

$310

OR

http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/p...e9bc3245de896b

$230

Hope this helps.
