hyrdogen kit?

my dad just got a hydrogen kit, that mixes hydrogen brown gas with the diesel in his 6.0 turbo diesel truck and his mpg boosted 5mpg or so. was getting 23mpg at 60mph. and about 19 and 20 at 70mph. up from about 15.5mpg before. there is also a noticible hp increase and his mid range is pretty good. also improved 0-60. what im wondering is how would one of these kits react with the trionic engine management in a saab 9-5 or anyother saab using trionic system? all you have to do for the kit is fill it once a month with water. if trionic would work with it, imagine the possiblities. you could put in regular 87 octane and with the hydrogen kit it would make it better than premium, maybe even close to racing fuel.

How exactly does this kit work? If it is injected like a water/meth setup, you could obviously account for that in your tune since it has been done. The only issue with gasoline applications is that diesel has an octane rating about half that of gasoline so Im not sure how beneficial it would be when used in our cars.

Out of curiosity, how much does this kit cost?

I'm wondering how the gas feed into the intake manifold is controlled/regulated. They use these as well as sophisticated exhaust recapture systems on a lot of freight trucks now. Apparently they see mpg gains of upwards of 20% on some of the diesels making it worthwhile in the commercial industries.

i dont know for sure on how it works or how its regulated. does not matter if its diesel or gas. they say it will boost the ocatane rating considerably, and based on hydrogen characteristics they seem correct. depending on what size you buy, the bigger the more hydrogen output so they usually recommend bigger for bigger engines. but for our size id say it would be around 200-400$ depending on what size you got. they are located in mn and if you want them to install it, its an extra 100$ i dont really know forsure how it works, but im pretty sure it would be beneficial for our cars. if you have a carb system without engine computers the benefits are increased. about double the mpgs and about 50% power increase they claim with carbs. since we have new stuff i would expect 5-15mpg increase and some hp gain, but not 50.% they had a computer chip that did something to the ecu of new cars that would allow it to get more mpgs and hp but they have been having slight issues with the chip and are reworking it out so you cant get the chip right now.
