Steering Wheel Swap Question - Nick T?

Does anyone know if a 2006+ three-spoke steering wheel would fit on a 2004 9-5? AND have all the airbag/horn/radio/paddle shift functionality? I know in 1999-2001 the 9-5 had single stage airbags so it wouldn't work on those, but they changed them to dual stage in 2002. Both the 2004 and 2006+ have dual stage airbags, and I THINK the same connectors for the airbag module. So the airbag would at least work I think... The 2004 steering wheel has a rocker button and a single button on either side for the radio controls, which the 2006+ wheel also has. I think they're labeled differently but maybe they'd send the same signal? I looked in EPC and found that the clockspring part number is the same from 2002-2007 (my EPC only goes to 2007). So this all makes me think the 2006+ steering wheel would just be plug and play on a 2004. Can anyone confirm this? Specifically Nick Taliaferro maybe with all the custom steering wheel stuff you're involved in at Genuine Saab? Thanks in advance.

If in your EPC search most of the SRS system components match up part number wise such as the ECU's that control the airbags work I'd say it'd probably work.

As for the radio controls well that one I'm not certain on. I think its 50/50 maybe. Here is why. If the DICE module is the same then it could be possible since all that info is transmitted via the I-BUS. However since the radios changed who knows how the bus signals are interpreted and all.

Smile 2006 Vs 1999 Steering wheel

I have both cars & for esthetics & touch I definitely prefer the 1999 wheel and controls. The feel more '' solid '' not the lightweight plastic / fake leather on my 2006.
As to interchangeability, I have no idea.
