Agreed on the paint.

Plus your exhaust system will still weigh less vs. SS.

It's aluminized steel, as in aluminum coating on steel, not straight aluminum. Sorry, no weight savings to be had. You don't want an aluminum exhaust, it has a very real chance of melting.

I wonder how a committee decided on $137.00 instead of $130.

Maine is arbitrary like that.

i got 2 of them...
one was for inadequite exaust, 137.00
and the other was for excesive noise 137.00
and failure to produce proof of insurance
all in the same ticket.

I think it was just a bad day, my car isnt even loud. tested at 105 decibels at 3800 RPM, the limit is 95 decibels at 3/4 of the RPM where your car makes peak hp.

mine has a low tone so it reads higher with the decibels, if you have a high pitched fart can you can get lower numbers

1. 105 is pretty loud, that's about where hearing protection becomes a really good idea.
2. low sounds travel far. I can hear subaru, V8, and diesel rumbles from the major roads 2-3 miles away when all is quiet in my house.

I've decided to go the 2 exhaust route... I don't like attention from the fuzz. Plus the extra $35 from the 2nd muffler is cheaper than a single exhaust ticket.

Usually exhaust dies from the inside out. Most of the time the rot starts at the seams of the muffler, and once you see it, its already 10x worse on the inside. Paint won't do a lot in that situation.

+1.....the condensation from the exhaust just sits in there and collects at those seams.

i'd really suggest painting it with some POR-20 i did my JT exhaust with it, and the single muffler no cat is pretty loud when WOT comes around, but i like it and the cops dont seem to mind. if you're looking for something to pull into a quiet neighborhood with at night- stick with the 2 mufflers.

and unless you have emissions inspections- leave the meow meow off.
if you need it, I have a stainless 3" magnaflow cat that was on my car for about a year, its yours for 50+shipping

usually it doesn't have to "hurt" to damage your hearing.

my dad used to drive a large dump truck at a mine between summers in college. he is now deaf in his left ear from the constant "drown" of the truck.

also, a hammer pounding nails is one of the most damaging sounds for your ears.

So, I ordered the exhaust last weekend from GenuineSaab, went with the 2 muffler system. I'm gonna hit the whole thing with high-temp paint, most of my exhaust failures in the past have been external rust related.

I also scored a new magnaflow 3" cat on fleabay for not too much money.

There's 1-3 week ship time from Sweden... so now I'm playing the waiting game. The car's inspection runs out the end of this month so I am probably stuck taking my Camry to the next NESA meeting since I doubt I'll have the exhaust on the car+inspected/registered by the 4th.
