Sluice Box Hero so, back at this some.

PIN 39. speed signal. dont have one, dont want one, dont want to fuck with one. that being said, im thinking about buying a cheap square wave generator. it would come on with the ignition and send out a pulse to the ECU at whatever is needed (i can tune the generator, and T5 can be adjusted) and as soon as the engine starts the ECU will think im traveling however fast is needed to create maximum power.

anyone think this will work?

Mike D?

bogan I'll be interested to see how this turns out.

I've had thoughts of doing somthing like this myself...... Goodluck

SOAB I really only need 5 of the 8 wires? And thanks for the link! I've read through that thread countless times but its been a while..

Also if your the same guy on pirate 4x4 a buddy turned me onto your build a bit ago and I gotta say this thing is SICK!

Mike is the man on this stuff.

SOAB Hope you don't mind me jacking your thread but did you do your harness yet? I need to wire the obdII connector onto my harness and can't find a pinout for just the OBDII.

Sluice Box Hero just got off the phone with Mike D. wealth of info, definitely going to be my go to guy during this whole thing.

after talking to him it makes me feel much better about this. i was very worried about going through with this due to the MASSIVE amounts of wire in the car, but it looks like it doesnt take much to make these engine run.

ill update as i go.

Sluice Box Hero chico ca, and please help away. PM me your number and maybe we can work together on this.

the donor car is a 1995 NG900 with a JZW stage 3+ on it.

little background on the project. im planning on building a rock crawling buggy using the B204 w/ transaxle mounted sideways behind the passenger compartment. i will weld the "diff" in the transaxle to create uniform output to each half shaft. the inner CV cup will be machined down to accept a drivline flange and then the drivelines will go out to each axle.

take a look at this build thread on a forum im on, it will be this basic set up, but with a much better engine and better axles

Project Lo-budget Pimpin - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

so, i can make a tone ring and install one of the saab sensors to create a speed signal, but i dont know what would need to be done to make the ECU pin 39 accept the signal from that sensor. does that sensor already send out a nice square wave signal? or does the the sensor send out a sin wave to the abs computer, and then the abs manipulates that into a nice square wave. if its the later, then i would be better off with some aftermarket hall effect sensor correct?

i do want to have the OBD II port working, ill check out your thread in the c900 section.

mike d ive done this a ton, its basicly like t5ing a c900,,,, Use an ng900 harness, they are alot easier to work with

if you do use a 9k harness, its not to hard to deal with, you will just have a whole heep of + leads that go to DI, injectors, AIC valves, ect. they are all burly thick wires, so they are easy to spot in the grey plug.

also, the map sensor runs though the grey plug on a 9k harness, so make sure to connect that up!!

pin 39 is the input for the speed signal, most things on how it reads the speed signal is adjustable inside the ECU, Again, i have to do this all the time on c900s

as long as you can get ANY speed signal to read from the ecu, you can set up all the gear ratios to match in software.

its a pretty easy harness to make run, just feed + power to ECU pins 1,48, and a switched to 60, ground out 24 & 25, (done though ground lug on intake manifold) and the ECU will be live and waiting for a crank signal. lastly, think about hooking up an obd2 port, its two wires, and will make the setup alot easier to deal with because you can see everything with a generic tool

where are you out of? i may be able to help

Marks9-3 Don't think he posts here really anymore but Wyldsaabman put one into an old CJ chassis.
02-28-2013 12:46 PM
Sluice Box Hero so the ecu need 290 pulses per rev? whats that mean. is this 290 clicks per mile? per kilometer? the wheel will turn 1 time for every 290 revolutions of the crank? but if that were the case, what gear would this be? 29 teeth on the tone ring multiplied by 10?

any one have any insight on this?

Sluice Box Hero ok, talked to JZW. engine needs speed signal for timing and all the good stuff. can anyone tell me which pin is used for the speed signal. im seein pin 39 as speed signal from the dash. is this the same signal the dash is getting from the abs? or is this an adjusted signal that the cluster converts over. if its the same signal then im good to go, if not, oh no.

thanks for the help so far.

Sluice Box Hero why will i need a speed signal? no abs, no speedometer, no torque limiting. what would the ecu use the speed signal for?
02-28-2013 09:13 AM
jdwertz you will need a speed signal
02-28-2013 08:59 AM
Sluice Box Hero i have them. what would they have? just looking for someone whos put a b204 in something besides a saab or astra. basically ill run a push button start, and all aftermarket gauges so i dont need anything other than the engine harness.

comtrang Check the T5Suite manuals. It might have it. I'd look myself but I'm not at a computer.

T5 Stand Alone Harness

ok. i dont spend a lot of time over here, but i love saabs. anyway, lately ive been putting together some information for a future B204 transaxle 4x4 buggy i have in the works. toughest part i think is going to be the wiring. ive been looking over some wiring harness diagrams, now, these were 9000 diagrams, and ive heard some of the colors are different, but they do the same jobs.

i was wondering if any of you have done a stand alone harness for one of these engines before. currently i have a pinout written down and a modified harness diagram, if anyone could take a look over these and tell me if im missing anything that would be awesome.
