Thanks. Yeah, the silver outline was with the car when I bought it back in 2003. I will say the old glovebox had no 900 logo nor the silver trim whereas this one does obviously.

My actual hi-fi speakers are the same and look good, and my dash was a NOS piece; 2nd to last one ever sold in the states. Its a thing of beauty! Hadn't seen the light of day until April. Produced in 1993, boxed up, sealed and tucked away for 20 years.
Nice! Sounds like me with my carpet when I did the restoration. One of the last NOS carpets for that specific color combination sold in the US.

Ric....my '91 SPG has the silver outline around the facia, and its original to the car; has "Premium Unleaded Fuel Only" tag that was specific to the 1991 SPG.

Talladega900 Completed project:

06-26-2012 04:32 AM
Talladega900 Not a problem. I only have the console bin and ashtray to put back in. As part of the install, I'm pulling the iPod/iPhone cable through the top DIN sized bin.

Job takes priority today, unfortunately. Won't get to it until this evening.

You'd better.......I still have the knee bolster out of my SPG from when I installed my 1992+ keyless entry / alarm system.

That was June 7th.

Morale of the story, strike while the iron is hot.

Talladega900 Finally got it off. Also fixed an electrical hack job the previous owner had done. Honestly, what are people thinking when they start splicing in wires anywhere they think they can???

Talladega900 VI009DZ, been there, done that. Got the bruise between my eyes.

I've been tugging on this thing for a couple of hours. Sucker is NOT moving. (nut is still on, backed off.)
06-25-2012 10:03 AM
VI009DZ If you are going to pull the wheel, loosen the nut a couple turns but don't take it off. then grab the steering wheel by the top and bottom and rock it hard as you pull.

First time I removed a wheel, I took the nut right off first. The wheel came off like greased lightning.......straight into my face.

Talladega900 No, I've done a ton of 'em over the past 30 years.

turbocon86 Is this your first dash install? If so, be careful not to tear the cardboard vent tubes to the outer vents. They are stapled on to the vent intakes. You need to pull the staples where the intake is connected to the vent body. It's also a good idea to extend the wires for the glovebox light before you put the new dash in. An absolute bear to install it otherwise. I also like to pop the top vent grills out before I install a dash so you can reach through the hole and reconnect the intake to the vent body easier. You can't pop them out if you have a wood dash though. They wont clear the wood overlay.

Talladega900 Old dash is worse that it looks in those shots.
