You can go off the back of the block on a B2X4 series motor. You simply remove the oil pressure sender and then use a M14x1.5 to 1/8NPT adapter (most senders are 1/8NPT). Make sure you keep the wire from grounding that was attached to the spade terminal on the OEM sender.
This is what I did. The B2X5 series motors have the stock oil pressure sender more behind the starting making this an unrealistic if not impossible spot to use.

|1995BlueBeast||It might just be NPT but I doubt it could be that easy. I say just get the sandwich plate. Its so easy to just put the sensors in the plate and be done with it and to guarantee it will work.|

|watkins||I pulled out the oil pressure sender on the firewall side of the block in my old convertible. Worked pretty well, but the fit is very very tight with the dipstick being in the way.|

I've always gone with mechanical boost gauges. From my experience, mechanical gauges generally gives you faster, more accurate readings.
However, with oil pressure I would go for an electrical so you don't have to worry about leaking oil into your cabin.

i guess ill just run a switch to the power so i can shut them off if need be and ya i know my headlight switch wont just fit in ive got a viggen dash lined up ill probably be sellling mine with the carbon fiber overlay
just made my order for mechanical boost gauge im guessing i should be able to dim that one because ill just dim the power supply? and it wont affect how the gauge works and i also ordered oil press electric and voltmeter

You can dim any gauge you want. Just buy a rheostat.
My Glowshift boost gauge is a searchlight right out of the box. An in-line dimmer brought it down to factory dash levels and it now dims quite well with the dash illumination dimmer.

I still say I wouldn't buy prosports again, since I can't dim that dang things and I do a lot of night driving with deer.
The big advantage for me with electrical is that I just put the sender over by the throttle body and ran the wires to join up with oil presser wires. Vacuum hoses for a gauge are just more hoses for leaks.
