Buuuut, if people feel like saving $150 to have a less pretty downpipe and that is enoug to make it worth it then by all means, go for it! For me, time was money, when a I had a LOT of time and very little money then it was something to do. When I got a job my free time became far too valuable.

But hey, if you sell these at cost or something then more power to ya!

...just my advice
Skip the exhaust, let me just have you find me a sweet deal like that Aero and build it up on the cheap

Seeing all the costs in this stuff makes me partial to GS for the DP and Jak or your JT exhaust from cat or turbo back. A lot easier, less waiting for used stuff, and a good point you make about money and time...time and money

turbojohnny looking good, as much as i enjoy fabricating shit, i would still rather spend the money on a GS DP, I sincerely regret selling the one i had bought before. lol I know i'll be ordering another in the future.

9k aero not really. I jstu waited patiently to get these parts in pieces. all in all, it was well worth the wait .
08-22-2009 07:31 PM
saabkid37 did you price it out if you didnt get deals on pipe and flexpipe etc?

08-22-2009 07:17 PM
9k aero thats for the parts alone. I'm welding it myself so thats all I'm spending. Or I can get it tig welded for $150 which i don't think I'll be doing. Even if I get it tig welded, basically what Nick sells at GS, I save $100 and it was a really fun project

dont think I'll be sellign these lol. I've studying and partying to do.

Does anyone know what material the o2 sensor wire is made of? b/c the back one broke b/c its located in the most retarted place on top of the cat. I plan on welding it on the side for easy access.

Hahaha

So you spent $232 in parts alone for the DP only then the labor, etc. or is this for the DP on back?

Great work, btw.

9k aero $85 for the pipes (TSL)

$70 for the cat and flex pipe (TSL)

$7 for o2 bungs (eBay)

$70 for the GS flange (GenuineSaab with the help of Branden)

soo $232?

I'm welding it myself so i think i'm done spending money. I need money for freshman year college!! haha

dsaabm Wow, looks great. That is a magnaflow race cat, right? What would you total up your parts to be? Maybe a muffler shop can do the welding for cheap. I got a guy at my muffler shop who charges very fair prices and no tax if I pay cash lol

If metal is expensive nowadays, then you are correct. It all depends on the materials cost at this time. I know the Saab Sports Exhaust used to cost $350, but now is $440 (marked down from $550). Did materials really rise that much in a bit over a year? Jak still has his exhausts marked the same price as they have always been, the JT Exhaust is $550 (probably costs them $100 to make), etc.

In the end, if the exhaust by the OP would cost as much as OR fairly close to the price as the other exhausts available, then of course it makes more sense to pay a little more for an exhaust from GS/Jak/etc. And we know that one looking for a gorgeous stainless steal DP will go with the V2 GS one which is gorgeous.

Progression Ditto X2 or is it X3?

I'd love a full 9-3 Exhaust from Turbo back looking like that...that's gorgeous looking...Based on pricing and if people wanted a full 3" back or what parts people would want, and if the OP wants to make the DP, Catback, or complete TBE, we can gather a list of people and put in deposits or payment in full if pricing is set. I don't mind waiting for this sweet looking work

Steering Clamp/brace, 6 point, other stuff?...bring it on please

Cheers!

3" SS Downpipe Project *Pictures*

I've been planning on making a downpipe, but I've been lazy these past few weeks. Wanted to do something today so I worked on my downpipe.

Is it ok to have the 2nd o2 bung after the cat but on the same piece of metal?
It's after the actual filter of the cat, but on the same piece of metal. Just look at the pics, you'll see it haha.

Oh also, can any verify a normal price to tig weld 6 spots and 2 bungs?
A local performance shop quotes $150 to tig weld it all.

I cna also borrow my dads friends MIG welder. I can practice with that and just mig weld it all. idc if theres surface rust on the welds.

Let me know if you guys know the pricing on welding. thanks!
