Marksy Not a fan of red tops here. I know more than 5 that didn't last a year in NORMAL applications. When the Vig needed a new battery, I was hesitant to go to Walmart to get one, but it was double the original CCA's and only $65, Its been great. My dash lights no longer dim when the factory stereo hits deeper notes.

As far as optimas, 1 Yellow top, 4 Jeeps , one winch and 3 killer sound systems. Still going strong. Worth every penny of the $190. Heavy though.

Jeremy is correct , they make reverse post models for our odd Saabs.

SaabDriver87 I've had one or two '97/98 900s come in still rocking the old Saab Maintenance Free battery. Some of them go forever.

Jeremy R. They do actually make a reverse post Red Top. It's called the 34R, if I remember right. 9 years on an original battery is great, though. Mine lasted about 5 or 6.

Bullseye Mine was replace with a OEM Saab battery in 2000. Still cranking away.
Now I probably cursed myself.

Just replaced orignal battery in the Viggen

Well, I guess 9 years on a stock battery is pretty good?!? Definitely didn't want to have to buy a new one, but hey, what are ya gonna do.

Went with the smaller Optima red top. Unfortunately for me, the posts are on the complete opposite side of the battery! After a few wire clamp removals and a few zip tip cuts, and a battery spin-around, I was in business! Too bad I couldn't get autozone to do it for me...maybe that was a good thing?!?

Anyways, just thought I'd share.
