well from the other three threads that lead to this, he probably drove it, the crank is most likely toast, and he was probably going to drop the pan and replace bearings. just a guess tho.

assuming he doesnt drive it anymore, the crank is most likely salvageable. just needs to take the motor apart, and determine whether it was a rod bearing or a main bearing that spun, and whether the crank was scored, and how much.
from there, he can take the disassembled block and crank to a machine shop. let them determine if the crank is salvageable, and what bearings to buy.

my bad i was thinking of something else.
but yes most likely the crank is trashed, since you would most likely have to take off either just too little or just too much to properly fit either set of bearings so your better off getting a new crank somewhere.

the reason i suspect that the crank is scored is because, from what i understand, this is believed to be an oil related bearing failure, correct? lack of lubrication = metal on metal = physical damage that must be machined out.

|Castor Troy||no. you can buy standard size, or one step oversized bearings. the crank needs to be measured, and if he spun a bearing, i'd be willing to bet the crank is scored and needs to be machined.|

saab only sells one set of bearings, so unless he really toasted the crank, it is kinda just slap in bearings.

|Castor Troy||dude, you cant simply pop the motor out and swap the bearings, ESPECIALLY if you spun one and have possibly caused damage to the crank. you need to check clearances, etc, probably have a machine shop go over the crank. it's going to take a few days, regardless of what you do.|

Rod bearings for NG900
Does anyone know a vendor or seller on ebay who sells rod bearings for my car. 1998 Saab 900 SE Turbo. 2.0. I need a set now because the car just started knocking today before I showed up to help out Dan F. with his tranny.
