|DeLorean||yeah while removing the fuel pump I snapped off one of the plastic fittings (doh)... I need to get a barb & some new fittings to fix it|

Corn surpluss are more amangeable now, we used to have corn rotting couse no onw wnated it and the sellers did nto wnat to crash the prices...

It's not known for sure when E20 will be coming. Right now were conducting preliminary testing by putting a 10K 3.1L engine in our 97 Malibu and running it on E20 for what I think is about 70K before a tear down to check the effects and another battery of emissions tests. They have already done 70K on a 100K engine and nothing was effected.
After that I think the next step if to convert a part of MnDOT's fleets of vehicles to E20 and check the effects on varying vehicles.

Yup, seems that cars that are e10 ready should basically be fine with e85, we'll keep an eye on things, but im not terribly worried about it. It even mentions in that document that they use the US spec gas tank, all set there!

We did the durability testing of E85 in modern engines here at school about 3 years ago.
We found that basically any car built after late 80's early 90's is ready to go on E85. The cars already have received the upgraded parts to run on E10. Right now another group is conducting research on E20 for the MnDOT. It's looking more and more like E10 will be gone in MN and E20 will be here.

As far as i know E-85, unlike regular gas, conducts electricity. Did you do anything to the leads in the tank, since the fuel pump just hangs there with no protection on the terminals what so ever? E-85 setup NEEDS properly insulated pump and leads in the tank to prevent guess what.
Also E-85 eats brass and copper so anything yellow you should change to stainless steel if you want this to last. Including the valve seats. Like above stated E-85 is also more aggressive on certain rubber and plastics so keep an eye on your fuel rail for any leats on the pipes.
I've thought a bit about making the next engine E-85 compatible but there seems to be quite a lot to do on the old machine to support this.

The upside it's supposed to be about 10% cheaper to buy and creates more HP output
However it causes corn and corn by products to inflate in stores too....
It's neat - but Gas will be the sure thing until Electric and Hydrogen are sorted out. Honda has a nice one in California for sale now.
