miochza So do I, that'll probably be my first aftermarket mod, but I don't really have the money ATM... plus I want to see how ECMdesign's intake system comes out.

MistaSantos Highly recommend, it made a big difference! Mpperformance has a great bundle for $200 rear ARB and steringclamp

miochza Kinda off topic but how is the rear ARB... does it really help the handling of your 900s vert? Just wondering, maybe add it to mine...

MistaSantos Well I got the resonator installes for $60 and it did the trick knocked down the sound considerably while still maintaining a little growl. So in the end I'm happy but it wound up costing more than I intended. So to all N/A engine people if you want a sport exhaust I recommend you buy one specifically for an N/A engine because otherwise it's just too LOUD!

miochza I think I'm gonna need a new muffler soon, it sounds pretty weak when I accelerate, almost like a bumble bee...

MistaSantos Well I checked the exhaust by plugging it and listening for holes and nothing, so I'm taking it to the muffler shop on saturday to find out how much it will cost to add a resonator hopefully it ain't more than $100 bucks. I don't think I can get used to the sound.

mike saunders As Stromer said, check for leaks. Have someone hold a rag in their gloved had and hold it over the tailpipe to plug it. You'll be able to ear the leak point immediately.

If you haven't changed the intermediate flex pipe, check that. it rusts out from the top and isn't often seen on a visual inspection. The flexible joints can split if the muffler guys whack on the pipes to fit another component. A broken flex pipe makes a really deep, loud rumblen that sounds cool for about a month or so...then it's annoying as hell.

stromer Is there a leak in the middle of the system or something? Or maybe you could use some more sound insulation.

DeLorean personally, I would say just get used to it... pertty much your only option if you just have to do something would be to add an extra resonator to the exhaust system. this would probably cost you as much as if you had to have a new muffler installed, but if you shop around you might be able to find someone to do it for under $200. I understand your dilemma… driving a car that makes too damn much noise is just not fun, especially on long trips on the highway. Fun for 1/2 hour, but NOT fun for 2+…

SPORT EXHAUST ON A N/A CONVERTIBLE

So I bought a Magnaflow muffler and a nice viggen lookalike tip. for my 98' 900s convert. and i'm stuck in a weird situation it's really loud inside the car (i'm guessing because it's a rag top) but out side it's not that bad, ideally I would want it a little more discreet but I could probably get used to it. Maybe some of the younger guys might think it could even be a little louder but I'm 32yrs old and the last thing I want is some kid in a honda or acura pulling up next to me wanting to race (remember N/A engine). The reason I bought the thing was for the nice tip and hoping to get a deeper exhaust note, it's not a cat back system so I wasn't expecting any performance gains but the stock exhaust which ways a ton! just looked & sounded pathetic!

Just wanted to find out if there is anyway to tone down the sound of the exhaust?
