Did you ever see this page of the mounts I made to put a B202 + 5-speed in my '73? It's all 0.125" sheet metal and 1.5" round tube for the front and left side mount, and the right side is a slightly massaged bracket from a rubber engine mounted B202 like the photo you posted. Photos start a few posts down. Pretty minimal fab needed, and then you don't have to find the hen's tooth 5-speed B20 front cover. SaabRally.com - '73 Notchback Road Racer - Page 3 |

JK | Nope. No luck finding a new rack, or the materials to repair the current rack. Also, no luck finding the front cover from a manual transmission, nor a master cylinder. So...the car continues to sit, unloved, in my garage with a 1989 16V turbo motor and 5 speed manual sitting next to it. | |

Wow, old thread .. though we have old cars ![]() Lots to read & learn here. Sounds like OP has plenty of typical 99 issues (of which i have shared), but overall reliable cars for the age .. surprised more have not survived; i guess rust ate many of them in your unfriendly regions.. Love that color. ![]() Quote:
Good to know about those swaybars tho! One more thing to add to my list... |

Spent some time looking at ejenner's hybrid 99 thread on saabcentral, and he shows a photo of his passenger side engine mount bracket (at least the lower part of it) and I honestly can't recall if that looks similar to one from a c900. Anyone? ![]() The part welded in the middle is a mounting point added for an oil pump, so ignore that. |

Speaking of defeasable, Champ and I pulled the motor out last night. Question: What is the closest motor mount bracket for the passenger's side to get the 16v motor in situ? It looks like it might be a case of making a jig on the old trans/motor and just fabricating my own, but if there is something that might get me a base to work off of, that might be nice. One nice thing, this car seems to have a marked lack of rust under the hood. I knew the car was relatively solid, but aside form some surface rust under the battery tray, the engine bay is very clean. It is very dirty under there, but still very clean...if you know what I mean. So, next step is to strart cleaning things up under the hood and inside the front wheel wells. If I feel ambitious I'll start going after all that tonight. |

We will have our own milita, as there is 15 of us going and we have reserved a castle with moat. Ok, it's a pool...but it's still a defesable position. |

The S10/other small chebby truck shocks fit (some of those trucks take a double-eye shock, others take a pin on the top - I'm not sure which take what maybe 4wd vs. 2wd). My friend and I put a used set on his 99. I'm not sure if they were blown or if the valving is totally different but they didn't have much compression or rebound control. The good news is you can buy used ones for cheap and send them to Bilstein for re-valving to suit your suspension setup (better than Touring Class, unfortunately Touring Class shocks are non-rebuildable). The rebuilder at Bilstein even confirmed that the s10 shocks would fit. Oh, I saw some good looking used 99 front Bilsteins on Ebay the other day, someone got them for $75. As for a C900 rear axle, yes do it. But FYI you can get swaybars from Addco for the stock rear axle (or at least later 99, not sure if there was any difference between '73 and '75ish to '7 ![]() Upper front shock mount reinforcement plate: That's the one SAAB used to sell but you can make your own real easily. It turns the mount from single-sheer to double-sheer. You can do the same to the bottom mounts (attach to the ball joint bolts) if you really want but it isn't really necessary for street use. |
