Tweek's Turbos Not that anybody I'm sure has ever done this. But according to the Saab EPC program. Cars outfitted with 17 inch wheels got diff bumpstops. PN 50 80 924 and 50 80 932, respectively.

This has been another, useless fact.

WS 235/40/17 is a common upgrade for viggens. They did that a lot on and i was thinking of it. I ended up going 225/45/17 for a larger sidewall. I am pretty sure it would fit but im not making any guarantees.

turbosb I am pretty sure it will. I havn't heard of anyone going wider than 225 especially with a 1.5" drop. If you can find someone though who has, I will stand corrected

saab4life i was thinking 235/40/17 will that rub my 00 9-3? and i dropped it 1.5"

turbosb Yes Cedric, I do It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you are looking for. 17's look great and you can go with a 45 series tire and your ride won't be much harsher. I have 18's with a 215/40 and yes the ride is a bit harsh, but she corners like a gem. I have heard of people using 225's but you risk rubbing. With a 215 like I have, you won't rub at all. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.

Tweek's Turbos I have a bootleg EPC program, and it shows diff bumpstops for 17s vs 16s I will get the PN, I am sure its no biggy tho.

Blaque Usually larger rims means a stiffer tire because of the side wall being shorter. Since the tires is stiffer, its supposed to help with cornering reducing roll. Unfortunatley this will make the ride slighlty worse because you will feel all imperfections and holes in the road. So its a trade off between a comfortable ride and better cornering.

Most people however stick with 40 or 45 on the tire profile when going with a 17". If you do this, I'm sure you won't feel much difference from stock. When going to a larger rim and smaller profile (35/40) you will definately notice a harsher ride.

So basically on a 17" rim with 45 profile tire, you shouldn't feel much different from stock.

Kyle (turbosb) may have more to say about this since he has aftermarket rims on a convertible.

saabindru900 i havn't heard anything about the chasie of the car being weakend from 17's.

im running 18x7.5's with a 1.5 drop on my 98 900, and it handles better just because it is an inch wider. at least that what it feels like

i also run handling courses with the 18's and havn't run into any problems, but i will let someone with a 9-3 comment, he might know more.

17's on a 9-3 vert

Hey guys I was just wondering some opinions on how 17's would handle on a convertible. I'm thinkin of buyin some this coming spring, but I've heard some ify things that the car itself wont handle the right way either that the entire chasie of the car will seem weak. Any ideas??? Should I just stick with 16's??
Also no suspension mods would be done to the car Thanx!
