Tweek's Turbos This is the swap to do. I just got back a conn rod from the machine shop. They fixed a snapped stud, and honed the crank surface part.

Does anyone have a spare stage 3 maptun or nordic ECU? looking to buy....

Will my 3inch NG900 DP work with the 2.3 swap?
The only difference in the motor is the crank, rods and pistons. I found a used 9k short block, no head, for 300 bucks, took my 2.0 block with cracked piston apart, had it inspected and hot tanked at the machine shop. The cylinder walls looked great and showed no wear at all and were on the low side of the wear scale after 160k, we honed the cylinder walls on that block.

I then took the crank, rods and pistons from my 9k short block, put in new rod and main bearings, 100 bucks, and then new piston rings, I went with total seal rings, but good stock dealer only saab rings are fine too and then you have basically a new engine that will require break in.

So 300 bucks for the short block and 150 bucks for machine shop and then maybe 300 bucks in bearings, seals and piston rings. Now you have a 2.3 motor with more displacement, larger torque curve and it will spool up the turbo about 500rpm earlier.

I also replaced the timing chain and guides and inspected the cam and crank gears, if they have pointy teeth, replace them...

mcrowley Everything is ng except for whats inside the engine block. You'd never know mine was a 2.3...the only thing that'd give it away would be a casting # or valve cover.

NickTurbo900 DP will work fine b/c you are using the NG exhaust Manifold on the 9k block.

Good luck!

mcrowley I won't disagree about the hydraulic clutch. The cable system sucks bigtime. Definitely on my list...

I thought the same thing until I put my 93 tranny in the car. Now that is a sweet set-up! Hydraulic clutch is butter and the shorter third gear combined with the 4.05 final drive really adds to the power! When I shift, I fall right back into the sweet spot of my power band now, it friggin flys!!!

TheTalladegaKid When swapping over can I use the stock Aero ECU until I get my Maptun ECU?

troll_speed It pulls real purdy-like

TheTalladegaKid Stage 3 - 290hp 430Nm (317ft-lbs) - Nordic

Stage 3 - 290Hk, 440Nm (325ftlbs?) - Maptun

TheTalladegaKid Yeah i've been picking it apart... looking at dips diy's.

I just picked up a GS intake w/shield will that fit to my swap?
Can I also use a 5cm instead of a 6cm TDO4HL?

Palmer Did you look this over?
https://www.saablink.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14013

Good info in there...

Also, I like mine.

They are pretty similar in reality, but the extra .3L get those turbos spooling up a lil bit faster.

2.0t to 2.3t?

I'm sure plenty of people have done this before... How do you like your swaps? I recently threw a rod in my 2.0 and im planning to swap my engine for a 9000 aero 225hp with a stage 3 tune. I may have a few questions for those who've done this.
