|guru||Ced it only translates default forum stuff like the words "forum index" and nearly everything on the reply / new forum page. It's a melonfuck and a half. Some of those letters just do not belong together... I fixed it, but it was a strange four and a half minutes.|

Wow.. we have Swedish translation Ya learn something new everday.
I checked out collapsing the forum categories, but it doesn't exactly do what everyone would like.
You can view what im talking about by going to the Forums page and clicking on any main Forum category heading. All others will then collapse.

|guru||How do you change your settings to collapse then? All I seem to have done is changed it to Swedish.|

I too only use the " New Posts" button. I understand your concern though and others feel the same way.
I would like to keep it categorized as it is currently in order to keep everything organized. The categories on the forums page are collapsable however.. just aren't collapsed by default.
I've considered the Vbulletin change (didn't want to copy SC, but it may be necessary) and it after speaking with my admin this may be in the schedule in the future.
So in summary, I understand. For now it won't change, but the next major site remodel this will be taken into consideration. Just use the "New Posts" section untill then.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I've just got "find new posts" bookmarked, it makes it easier than jumping back and forth to the index.
As for the index... it is very cluttered. I'd been lurking around before I joined up and posted, and one of the things that kept me more loyal to SC was the slightly more organized format.

|jrbrangi||I find if you use the new post thing, it makes it easier, however I am used to PHPBB, I like the scrolling new posts as well.|

|danthegolfer||doesnt really bother me.... actually i like it the way it is|

As for VBulletin it's a bit pricey...
BC, It's an effin pain in the ass. The main forum page is like 10 webpages long!
I don't even bother going there, as I said. If I did 'browse by forum' it's like
/Read the forum/
Yea, I could use JUMP TO but NEW POSTS is the best way to read this messy forum.
It's not neat, not concise at all and looks WAYYYYY to busy.
DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE
Trying to help, man, not offend.
If I didn't give a damn about TSL I would have just kept it to myself.
/EDIT/ Just checked. It takes exactly 10 scrolls of my wheel mouse to get to the bottom forums.

|Boxerchip||....... they are sooo easy to use... I dont see how you all can complain about this they are easy as pie to nav around and find the place to post.|

vbulletin has a subcategory function..
also take note of the "jump to" menu on this forum.. might save you a little time. it's in the lower right hand corner.

|DeLorean||I have suggested that there are too many forms on the site as well. I have noticed that many things are posted in the wrong forums (I have to move a lot of them). I do think that the fact we have so many might discourage some new users, especially when they are not sure where they should post. The reason we have so many forum areas is so people can find related posts easily. I do understand this, but we do also have a search button. Maybe it’s just me, but I have always preferred simple un-cluttered forums that you don’t have to think “well I could post it here, but it fits here to… or here… hmmmmmm”|

One thing I DESPISE about this forum
Way way wayyyyyy to many different forums on the main page.
It would be a lot cleaner and simpler to navigate if you had only a handfull of main categories and then all the rest underneath those.
For instance, I'm in the 9-3 GENERAL section. I want to go to PERF MODS. I have to go BACK to main...scroll down a long way, then go to PERF.
Pffft. I don't even bother. I never go to the forum page anymore because of this. I just click VIEW NEW POSTS.
