Although I am always game to get regional organization into play with certain things like dating sites, news and info, Chat rooms I do agree that regional set up will in a way seperate things and once you get to know the site and its users you learn where everyone is anyway...besides organizing a meet is as easy as posting a thread in the Events section...

Champ I just think it's funny the discussion went from whether or not to have it, to what the regions should be divided into.

nowhereman but what about people that travel? or want to go to the next region for a meet? i think that the way we do it now works great. i mean adding the personalization to have just certain things come up would be great, from my experience that isn't exactly the easiest thing to do on a forum plus it opens the door for lots of other technical problems.

fieldsc I think it would be a good thing. Make organizing small/impromptu events easier. Hit the target audience, an thats it. Could even set your region in the profile, so posts to other regional forums dont pop up in the new posts feature of the site. Reduce some clutter.

Maybe even have the events scheduled in your area in the next 2 weeks to appear at the top of the saablink homepage. Start integrating personalized content into the site.

Ahem, and gals. You'll find we're actually pretty animate about most things. And sometimes even things that have to do with Saabs.

i agree that this way works just fine. adding another part of the forum to look for not so recent posts would just be a pain. having all meets regardless of region in one place is great and already in place.

and yes we are very "supportive" of our regions..

MikesAERO lol wow guys are animate about their regions! those are just the ways they were set up on the other forums, change what you want. And yes, the regional forums would be intended to be for meets, bbqs, etc, not as a means to take away from the other subcategories (which it wont, in any way). I dont think it would hinder meeting people from other states as well as abroad, just a nice clean way to get people together. Or not. Its just a suggestion lol.
