danthegolfer alright i just emailed asking them what size it is... ill post it on here when i get an answer!

rcmdesign It's TOO BIG. I had to cram it in my other tube, but that was before the air mass meter so it didn't even do it's job properly...

I can measure it sometime...tomorrow...thursday...who knows...need to get under my hood before Saabs at Carlisle and clean her up...

danthegolfer so rcm, youre saying that the tornado didnt fit b/c it was too small? like it was too loose in there ?

anyway, could you do us a huge favor and measure the internal diamter (from inside edge to inside edge) of the intake pipe b/c i really dont wanna get the wrong size tornado... thanks

rcmdesign Of course "Didi 7 is one of the best all-purpose cleaners on the market today."
05-03-2005 02:40 PM
xaamottomaax The Tornado has to be the greatest product ever! Well, second to Didi 7 that is.

rcmdesign It definately was way off...I just about crushed the whole thing to get it to fit a tube that was smaller...The taliferro intake is definately larger than the stock airbox! I can measure it sometime...

so therefor, is the taliaferro tube have a different inner diameter than the stock airbox? also, it says it should fit anywhere from 1mm less to 3mm more... how close was it? maybe they make a 60..

mike saunders Guys...

Those things don't work.

danthegolfer just incase anyone else is wondering, me and citron figured it out

the inner diameter of the resonator box (which i assume is the same size as the intake pipe) is 65mm. therefor you need the tornado ki-65.

citronxbeige nick can you help me out with the inner diameter question??

GenuineSaab The main problem is that everyone likes the Silver powder coat parts far better than black. The problem is that it takes longer to get silver. This batch was 3 weeks. And we ran out. We are waiting on the truck to get back from the powder coater today or in the morning. Others parts like the NA intake pipe we only keep a couple in stock. They are not a huge seller. Some of the parts we get from SaabUS are odd for example we are only getting 2 of the Viggen antenna plug a week. No orders are billed until they ship! Remember we have 4 phone lines all toll free. There are 4-5 people around 8-6 central time to answer the phone and your questions.

citronxbeige does anyone happen to know the inner diameter of the direct intake tube from genuine saab....the reason i ask is because i have an opportunity to get one of thsoe tornado things for extremely cheap and i just need to find out the size. im thinking its somewhere between 2.5" and 2.75" but im not really sure. anyone have exact numbers?
05-02-2005 09:30 PM
mike saunders Agree with xaamotto here....

This email was hurriedly sent the first business day after your order, which is exceptionally prompt response by any standards. There have been instances with other vendors of incredibly poor customer service, some of which I experienced myself and took a $700 order elsewhere (some of it to GenuineSaab) because I couldn't get in touch with this other company at all.

Getting something in a week because it's not immediately available is pretty par for the course.

When in doubt, call. I've called GenuineSaab maybe 5 or 6 times and Nick has usually answered and in almost every case, once he gets talking he's hard to stop! Had you called, they might have been able to tell you immediately that the powdercoating would take a couple of days...The same is probably true for Eric and Chris at MP, and for some of the other vendors. The Web is sometimes not as expedient, or as informative, as one phone call.

xaamottomaax Besides, you just ordered it Saturday. You had an email updating your order status the next business day after your order. You can cancel your order if you don't feel like waiting right?

Also don't forget many of those parts like JT systems and I belive Speedpart products (like the Viggen Antenna) are shipped from overseas.

So keep stuff like that in mind.

what i would have told you...

also keep in mind.. most of these parts are not mass produced... let alone made in the US...

kwkslvr This same situation happned to me when ordering an intake. I waited and waited and even paid a special shipping cost to get it here in 2 days...Still nothing...As you can imagine...Im was pissed lol...I didnt get one email saying they were out of stock...nothing...But, I must vouge that Nick was very helpful in getting my parts to me ASAP. The filter also had a flaw in it and it had ripped too early at the base..(result of tightening it too much around the pipe...whoops? didnt say anyting in the directions though!!) Nick was willing to send me a brand new one with his words of wisdom something of " tighten it so hard you sweat...' lol. haha, very helpful...Dont worry, if all else fails, change performance distributors.

xaamottomaax I got an email from Nick today having placed an order for an intake pipe as well (that's what this is referring to)....translation: They have been selling like crazy and it has been hard to keep up with demand. Apparantly there was a huge order from a European supplier that took up all of the resources and available stock for a while. He told me they should be available some time this week but there is probably a line of people waiting and I placed my order a couple weeks ago so you might have to wait a bit longer...might not though I'm not sure.
05-02-2005 05:23 PM
Saabn Yeah man, if you are that desperate to get it without waiting, buy one from MP, its cheaper and you will have it in those 2-5 business days. Altough it is worth the wait, waiting is hard, i hear you on that one
