rcmdesign It is debateable that any mod will only adjust high rpm performance. I beg to differ in some cases. But most exhaust mods do modify in the high rpm area.

slaab4life Hmm, stick with the orginal exhaust then, its in great condition, minus the rear muffler and its loose baffles (freaky to knock on their muffler and have it knock back at you). But then, 2.25" to 2.5" is quite a size difference, based on area it's a 27% increase. Also curious, with my newbi-ness on this site and the performance side of my Saab, most modifications will only add to high rpm performance and drop the low end performance some correct?

rcmdesign If you have an N/A do NOT go to 3", it will decrease back pressure and you WILL lose performance. The max for an N/A is 2.5".

Hmmm, 2.0" exhaust. Good to know, PO must have upgraded mine because its either 2.25" or 2.5". I've always wondered what the stock diameter is.

2k193turbo I like all of the goodies that my Saab came with, but It would be cool to put together a weight reduction thread.

I'm not gonna run out and remove my hatch or drive around with no spare tire.
But It would be fun as hell to drive around a totally stripped down Saab.

Maybe as a second /track car

ng900 Yeah, you definitely got a point there Dan, part of the fun of Saabs is that they look good too. Doing all that weight reduction would make the car look like crap.

danthegolfer hmm... well yea maybe if u do that shit... i was under the assumption that it was still street legal...

yea i can get my 0-60 in 3s too? all i have to do is take off the roof of the car, the hood the doors, the floor, the tires... ill take out all the exhaust pipes so it just blows ehaust out the headers... take out the sway and strut bars, ill take out my entier dash, the shifter knob...

point is the weight reduciton he did turned his "car" into a a few random pieces of metal bolted together

flames Ahem. When i say everything. I mean EVERYTHING!. Lights, bumpers the lot!!The weight was reduced from 1400kg to under 1000kg. It was an old Jag with loads of real heavy mods. Even a champagne cooler and a cigar humidifier in the back. The car was a rustwreck so he sold the parts and had laugh. 400kg. Thats like driving around with 4 guys in the car. Donīt underestimate the weight thing!!!

Logan Leslie Yeah flames, but there are some systems that don't weigh very much, You can always throw in the Kenwood DualMag sereis speakers, or this years Infinity Kappas, as they are very light. There is also a product out there about a carbon fiber orb with a sub in it that handles 500 watts, and only weighs 13 lbs

first of all if ur friends car's 0-60 time was 11s... theres no way he got it to 5s without doijng any performance mods sorry...

flames Weight reduction is the cheapest way to make you car go faster. If you have the possibility. Rip out the back seats, carpets, sound proofing, stereo, trim, air con weighs a tonn, in the bin. Plexiglass sunroof, remove electrical goodies, window motors, spare wheel, tool kit, airbags drill holes, body trim even the badges(porsche has stick on ones to reduce weight!) and never drive with more than a gallon in the tank. Lightweight alloys and tyres to reduce rolling weight.
I have a friend who did it with an old Jaguar. He took out EVERYTHING! The 0-60 time was instantly reduced from 11sec to just over 5sec. No shit. I also know somone who revamped his Impressa 2.0 4wd and he also knocked 1.45sec off his best lap time at the local track. Worth thinking about before you install a new stereo with 8 speakers, amp and sub!!!

citronxbeige oh yeah, sorry...our exhausts are interchangable with turbos from the catback....saab sport exhaust is 2.5" and it fits perfectly

rcmdesign Well then, I was talking about a complete system. I know Group 9 Performance has a turbo exhaust system 2.5" that will fit our cars minus the downpipe...
