rcmdesign I think I found a filter that will work, a K&N I am ordering from AutoZone tomorrow or so. I will go out an take pics in a few, just got done work and back from the store...

citronxbeige when i used to have pvc running into the fender i had the same problem it was such a hassle getting the filter to fit.

well rob, i waited patiently and finally tomorrow has lets see some pics!

also, i remember someone, a 9-5 owner on this forum, posted a pic of a 9-5 with a new bumper put on it, and in one of the pics, where the bumper was off, there was a long skinny k&n cone filter in the fender...anyone remember the pic im talking about...i tried a search but couldnt find it. the filter im thinking of is probably too long but the shape of it would have been perfect.

rcmdesign It caused the one pipe that connects to it to not reach as far into the engine bay as it should...So I had a longer coupler barely connecting onto the end of the stainless pipe...And it was making me feal uneasy when I was connecting it. If the filter was skinier, it would allow the pipe to reach up further into the engine bay and connect better...It wasn't like I had to cram the filter down in there, it fit fine, but you have to connect the stainless bend to it and slide it up from underneath...That's where it was hard to get things in place with that big filter...

danthegolfer i really like how that orange one works tho, how much work did it take to "get it down there" and wut do u really mean by that... i guess ill see in the pics 2moro!

rcmdesign That filter does have an open top. It's a nice filter. But probably not the one I am going to use on the kit like I said, it's quite too big to get the kit installed easily...It took some working to get it in there.

If you want one real bad get it off ebay cheap now

Well what I noticed was I lost most of the hesitation I was having before, and this was probably due to the new filter, cause my old one was a rusted mess from like autozone or something....This new one is stainless steel so it won't rust, and it allows for better flow. It also sounds louder now...But the biggest difference like I said was there was no more hesitation when stepping on the pedal....

I am thinking something like this needs to go down there

It's only like 5 inches long, and 4 inches wide...

danthegolfer if i remember correctly, no its not, it has a piece of cone shaped orange plastic on top of it... but im not 100% on that
05-25-2005 06:58 PM
citronxbeige oh and btw is that filter open top?
05-25-2005 06:57 PM
danthegolfer AHHA holy crap, i dont know if u guys remember but remmeber a lil bit back i was talking about a cool air filter i saw atadavnce but i couldnt remmebre wut it was, well the one in robs pic is the one is was looking at... it looks sweet doesnt it lol

anyway, yeah im definitly interested now, and knowing that thats the filter ur gonna use i could go buy that instead of getting in ur kit and therefor saving myself shipping $$$

citronxbeige damn rob ur killin me i want some pics now !!! lol im anxious for tomorrow...

and when u say u felt a difference what exactly do u mean...can you elaborate a bit (ie at low rpms, top end, sound, etc)

i know uve nly had it for a day or so and i understand u may not be able to answer this but i thought id give it a try

rcmdesign Well I have it installed now, and I definately could feel a difference...But the only issue is all of the silicone connectors, and the length of the MAF sensor wire. The one pipe extends the sensor down a little ways towards the front of the engine and it keeps the wires taught pretty tight in there...It has some slack of course, or I wouldn't have been able to get it on...I just need to get some couplers that are the same color, I have one black one, one yellow one, and one orange one. Also I have a feeling it might have installed quicker if I used a skinier filter. I actually bought this orange stainless steel filter thinking it was smaller than my other one, which it was, but it still didn't sit right where I wanted it. This is the filter I got:

So I am just basically putting the final touches on the attachment...It was really luck that I got mine in because of the larger filter...I'll try and take pictures tomorrow...

PureNordicPower Sounds Goood...price?
05-23-2005 07:21 PM
rcmdesign UPDATE: I got the pieces made and picked them up. The only issue is I need to get a skinier filter to fit behind the foglight before I can install the kit...Going to check out advance auto parts for a K&N maybe...
05-18-2005 06:28 AM
rcmdesign I can sell as kit, and part by part...
05-17-2005 07:52 PM
PureNordicPower No I definatly need errrrthing.
05-17-2005 07:44 PM
rcmdesign Price will come soon...Need to see if the kit fits first...I believe we can do part by part if you only need some pieces...
05-17-2005 07:35 PM
PureNordicPower Ok plan is a big G-O for the concoction, now all I need is an estimated price and I'm good to go.
