iwantaviggen i am going to try and get to wrapping my headers and DP over the summer....

mike saunders I considered wrapping them with Thermo Tec. It's a bit of a hassle to do it right unless you have the manifold off, and even then, there's little clearance around some of the inner pipes.. The other problem is that the wrap doesn't insulate evenly as there are bound to be some spots where the overlap is more in some places than in others. I don't know if this is what led to all the reports of cracking....

Painting the manifold with Black Satin is pretty cheap and it looks pretty good too...

Turbo exhaust manifold insulating

I know ricot and a few others have ceramic coated their manifolds to help keep down engine bay heat and such, but I haven't seen anyone try using exhaust wrap (or "header wrap").
Perhaps the concern is with causing manifold cracking? I would think that cast iron could stand up to it...

Any thoughts?
