Ahh, I forgot about that.
My car was acting sluggish soon after I got it as well. Seemed the performance was getting worse and worse. Some reccomended I replace my fuel filter, and all was better.

So I finaly figured out the issue with my low hp problem. At the suggestion of a buddy of mine, who is a sales Manager at a Saab dealership, I replaced my fuel filter. Well the difference has been night and day. My car is much quicker now and I plan on bringing it back for a dyno run to back up my seat of my pants feeling. It looks like the filter was the factory unit and it had over 170,000 kms on it!!! You should have seen the sludge that poured out of the intake side of it!!!
So for all of you out there that have not replaced your fuel filter recently don't neglect it for to long.

A couple of things I might add an or agree with...
185 at the crank equating to 140 at the wheels with very little to no mods might be a little low but not rediculously low. Fresh spark plugs will make a world of difference.
I did a baseline dyno run with very little mods(3" airbox duct mod, k&n filter, TBTC porting and MBC+A) and pulled 186hp / 215 torque. This is the '99 9-3SE HOT rated at 200 stock crank HP. This was the stock exhaust front to back.Spark plugs were not fresh and actually hacked(an experiment to reduce the quenching effects of the spark), SID showed 100 degrees in the shop that summer day after I sat in Atlanta traffic for almost an hour. Even with these things, there was very little taper in boost pressure with the pressure tapped at the TB(maybe about 1-2 psi taper that day) and the +A handling the overshoots. The Dawes Style MBC is the lowest pressure rated MBC out there and does the best job I have seen down low in the lower gears controlling boost with minimal overshoot problems whereas other MBC's struggle with nasty overshoots, but the Dawes does tend to struggle up high especially when tapped at the turbo in the heat. A/f was rich all the way through the rpm range.
You might try moving your boost tap to the TB for your next run. If you pull the line to the WG off, you'll end up with a fuel cut and ruin the dyno run.
I plan to get back on the dyno soon and see what the 3" DP, Sport exhaust, and MP IC do for it. I also plan on doing it on a better weather day due to the day I ran it was extremely hot and humid.

new plugs, new filter, check your muffler to make sure it's not plugged up ... and then re-dyno!
I have new plugs, new K&N filter and the Viggen exhaust only has about 35,000 kms on it. There is always the possibility that the cat is plugged up a bit which will be rectified when I install the MP Performance 3" downpipe. As I swap out and replace the parts I will have a look at the stuff that is coming off.

|Boxerchip||uhhh why is this that supprising? 185 at the crank 140 at the wheels is not THAT bad.... what makes you think you should get so much more.... viggen intercooler helps spool time but not max HP... nor do most of the other mods... the MBC is the only mod that just boost the HP... and the ECU i guess is some how limiting even that.|

|VAGGEN||When the psi drops, does it stay down or does it bounce up and down between 10psi and 15? It might be your BPV... or do you have a BOV? Either way, theres a chance that either of those could cause your boost to drop if they're not operating correctly.|

|jrbrangi||I had the exact opposite on my dyno run, I had frank from SQR put in my Stage III and I was running to rich, i have all the other upgrades, (ehaust , DP etc) except I have the stock base IC with the same side in and out, basically a piece o shit. I need to get the MP IC soon to compensate. I put down 194hp and 252ftlbs of torque. should be a lot higher on the HP, plus the ecu is still adapting.|

I took my 2000 saab 93 with over 74K miles on it, and all I had done to it was a cat-back exhaust and K&N drop in filter. 2 weeks ago it made 200.9 HP and 230lbs of Torq Running lean @ 15:1 ***The perfect mixture is 13:1*** . Last Saturday I installed the Mpperformance Intercooler and noticed more boost in second gear. So I took it to get dynoed again and it made 186.4 HP!! I was like a nice kick in the balls when i saw that !!!! Then i checked out how lean it was running. The Mpperformance intercooler is a very sweet product, trust me I help make them. Now the reason that it was makin such low numbers is because, for the increase air flow from the intercooler. My fuel could not keep up.. IT was its leanest at 16:1 Air/fuel. So now Im looking for a RFPR (rising fuel pressure regulator). And for 1 drop in air it cost me 14hp!! When I find the new fpr I should be making way over 215hp for sure. I highly recomend the intercooler but if you are modding the piss out of the car you better make sure that your fuel can keep up with the increased air flow. Basically just see how that air/fuel ratio is and that could help things out alot

|MatthewB||Maybe I should go back and do it with the hose from the turbo to the BPC (is that correct?) disconnected. I wonder what kind of readings I would get before the motor and/or turbo self destruct. I tried this once in my Viggen, now that was one hell of a ride having the boost go right off the factory guage!!!! It was reminescent of my NG900 with Abbott ECU and wastegate, that thing always boosted right out of the red zone.|

I doubt it, out of all the cars at the dyno day, I think I was the only one packing a mbc.
Another car did experience the same boost drop off too. Maybe Gavin?

no, what I am saying is that the waste gate actuator when the ECU is not acting on should be set around 1/2 your max boost with a stock ECU. that is, if your waste gate is set around 6.5 PSI, you should max out at 13ish. You can un plug the solenoid to check this on C-900's, I'm not so sure if this is the same for NG 900's. I know on TCS equipped 9000 models you can touch the brake lightly and floor it in 3rd gear and check the base boost. probably similar on NG's

|DeLorean||what's your base boost set at? it should be set around 1/2 max boost on a stock ECU. typiclly this is around 6-7 PSI.|
