saabsbreakdown When i did the head gasket on my EMS (on the B motor) I torqued to the spec in the haynes manual, ran it, let it cool, and then re torqued to the previous spec again, as advised by scanwest. The guy on the phone had to run out and find someone who knew what a B-motor was and ask him what to do. It was really funny.

The book says torque an additional 90 deg, I don't advise this. just do it to the specified value again, and if you still are concerend, do what moon racer says and again after 1500.

Moonracer the sterch bolts did not come untill the 16 valve engine. As stated above you torque them and rn the car to temp, retorque and the again at 1500 miles

Saab99Super mine werent on my 79. i had to torque em down once, let it idle till it was at normal temp, loosened and retorqued, then after 1500 mile of driving another loosen and retorque and it was good.

xassh i believe all head bolts to be designed to stretch. i recommend replacement whenever head work is done. head bolts are something that i would never reuse.

someone, please, correct me if i am wrong.
