Well this has gone about as well as the rest of 2020... Between Covid, work situations, and a divorce that God willing will be final soon, this car has been WAY on the back burner all year and it frustrates me. But I'm back at it and finally managed to source nearly all of the parts that I need to make it drive again. Hoping to have it 100% by spring. Here's to build season! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

tuner4life | Sorry, no updates at the moment. I have about half of the parts gathered to get this thing in the road, but have been in reduced hours at work and partially laid off for weeks now. Just going to have to wait it out to buy the rest, but still hoping to get this thing on the road by mid summer. | ||

I hope parts availability holds out until I am at a place in life where I can rebuild mine. ![]() |

Impressed with your organization and research on that list. Make one for the B234R ![]() |

Started going through what will be needed for the engine build.. Nothing is severely wrong with the engine itself. Just want to refresh everything to where it's going to be reliable for a long time. I know there is still a lot missing (ignition parts for example), but I already have a lot of time in this lol. ![]() |

LOL...yeah. Because so often even what we think isn't rusty, actually is. I've been having that experience yet again while refurb'ing my new-to-me trailer lately. Quote:
It's your car and you're investing your time and money, so why not. You've already got the parts in hand for relatively little cost. If you decide to sell it, most buyers would likely prefer the spoiler. Rust-free car or not, you're saving a beat-up 900S, so you're not defacing a mint special model. And, most importantly, you're not a fart-box ricer teenager who's going to make a mess of it trying to stick it on with rusty nails and scotch tape ![]() ![]() |

Also opinion time: I haven't sold the SPG side panels from my black parts car and am likely just going to keep them and put them on this red car. My heart wants me to grab the spoiler (regular turbo spoiler not whale-tail), and also put it on this car to complete the look.. Meanwhile my brain doesn't want me to drill holes in this rust free smooth hatch. Your opinions? I can talk myself in/out of anything. |

Look's great! I bet it's nice to do metal work without rust falling out. |

Body work is now done and in primer. I have a good friend who will spray the color once the car is driveable. Here are a few pictures along the way. I was happy with how nicely the metal worked back to pretty flat. It looks like a lot of filler, but it is very thin. Less than 1/8" in the deepest spots. (Before pic of front fender) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And the little crease on the back corner: (Before picture) ![]() The metal straightened as much as possible (It's thick metal there!) ![]() 1st layer of filler: ![]() And final result (I know the primer is screwed up on the top surface. My dumb self dropped something on it while wet. It's smooth now ![]() ![]() I also traded some parts from the black parts car for this stuff. It's everything I need to fix mine. I'll probably try to find a nicer grille eventually, but the rest is presentable for this $300 car ![]() ![]() Now all I need to do is get to work on the drivetrain refresh. That should happen over the next couple months as I save $ for this project I didn't intend to have. ![]() |

Thanks! It still needs a lot of work, and I need to make some organizational improvements in the shop before I go splattering more compound on everything lol. Facebook video link about the parts car.. Not sure if you will be able to see it or not! There is a bunch of goodies in that car! https://www.facebook.com/tuner4life/...1298621597558/ I'm hoping to be able to part that 1985 out and fund most of the engine refresh on this 1992.. |

That paint looks so much better already. Curious to see what parts you dig out of / remove from that '85. |

I am finally feeling better enough to get back to work. This wisdom tooth extraction job has kicked my butt for the last couple weeks just feeling like death.. The scrubbing that I gave the car last month got all the crud off, but the paint still needs a lot of work. I started the initial polish on the roof and right quarter panel last night. I will follow this up with a more fine compound and then wax. Have to start somewhere. ![]() ![]() ![]() It's supposed to me a little less snowy this weekend so i'm going to start taking the black parts car apart and listing parts for sale. That will hopefully fund the engine refresh for the red car. |

Sorry everyone.. I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday and have been down for the count most of the weekend. Just getting back to this.. Quote:
The car was in Toledo. It was posted on one of the C900 FB pages kind of late at night. I got lucky and saw shortly after it was posted. The seller was amazing and pulled the ad down for me right away after I promised to come get it. I knew the vultures would swarm otherwise ![]() As much as I love the flatnose. My 86 has all the flatnose SPG stuff on it already so I'll be selling this kit. I'm still up in the air about adding the side panels to my 1992 base, but I'm probably going to keep that one 100% stock body at this point and really need to recoup some funds to finish it up, so the full set will probably be for sale as soon as my face feels good enough to go out and remove it. I am also open to trading parts from this 85' for a set of nice headlights, grille, and bumper (with side extensions) to fit my 1992.. But I'll work on a for-sale post for that later.. I did find a set of brand new KYB shocks that fit a C900 buried in the trunk of this 85', so that's a nice surprise. I can't wait to inventory everything that's piled inside. ![]() |

Definitely a great find. What part of Ohio was it in? I'm surprised I didn't beat you to it lol. I have all the stuff I need to make my 88 a flat nose including the SPG front spoiler and I'm torn about keeping it original and preserving it as a stock example, or making a few subtle changes like that to suit my tastes. |

There will plenty of good parts on/in it. The flat-nose stuff is often hard to find now. |

Super excited about this! Over the weekend, I went and picked up this 1985 900 (I believe it's a legit SPG) from a nice couple in Ohio. The car is pretty severely rusted out, but there are a lot of good parts on it and stored inside as well. They seemed to need is gone asap and I ended up getting the car free as long as I could remove the drivetrain and leave it behind for them. I gladly loaded up the engine hoist and made short work of that deal! This is the parts car that I assumed the red car would have been ![]() ![]() I still need to go through this car and inventory everything (the inside is full of parts too). But I will be using some things for my red car, and some other things for my blue car, and then parting out the rest. The things that I know I'll be selling are the SPG kit (as much as I want to keep it, the blue car already has one, and the red car is staying stock), flatnose parts, and wheels. Possibly more. We'll see when I can go through everything. |
