|seriks1||Seen this on the hardtop og 9-3. Both instances were damaged antennas (seemed crazy at that time too) Unplug the onstar antenna|

|jssaab||Yours sounds like an immobilizer issue, the flashers blink and no start.|

|srp||I think it is in the hatch/trunk behind the side panel by the gas filler.|

|Minirex4777||I like that 5-year update I think that's awesome. I'm having a problem with my car not wanting to start I believe it's related to the OnStar. My buddy was outside and told me the flashers were going and the Flasher button was not depressed. I also happen to notice that the OnStar light went from red to Green for some reason. I have a 2003 Saab 9-3 convertible and I'm just wondering if the OnStar box is in the same place cuz I don't remember seeing it in the trunk ever I've got a 2001 convertible too same car. And if you ever had any issues after removing it or if it just cleared everything up. Thanks so much I hope you see this. Ron|

(5 year update in case someone is stumbled by this)
This turned out to be a loose ground under the dash and was completely unrelated to my cutting out the onstar box. removing the box was fine and freed up some weight and allowed me to mount 2 amps in it's place.

|SaabDriver87||Not that I know of. Everything in that cage gets unplugged and the wiring just gets zip-tied up and out of the way. Idk what you cut/disturbed.|

|mhess427||SaabDriver, I had some bad judgement late at night and I ended up cutting the bundle of cables...now SOMETIMES my interior/dash lights seem to be tripping a breaker or something. when it happens, my turn signals, interior lights, and dash lights will just flicker and won't stay on. I hear a clicking and usually will just ignore it until they come back a few minutes later. did i short something? are there some wires that NEED to stay connected? thanks|

|SaabDriver87||Well, there was previously a recall to have that OnStar box disconnected and removed, but it has since expired. To answer your question, yes, remove the four 10mm screws holding the cage in place, unplug everything and discard.|

What does the On Star Unit look like?
Under the rear trunk shelf of my 2001 9-5, there is a large rectangular unit with bundles of wires strapped around it. I'm guessing that it's the On Star or Nav unit because I saw "Navigation" written on one of the bundled cables.
My REAL question is...Can i remove this unit and mount my new Amplifier of the same dimensions?? I don't think my On Star is even existent, and no I don't have the Nav option. Also, is it a bad idea to mount Amp upside down?
