I have been stalking your posts for a while now and finally decided to join.I have a 2001 Saab 9.3 SE convertible.I have only ahd it for about 1 1/2 years.I had a 97 and 99 Acura Integra before.All was pretty good until this fall.The brake booster failed and the top quit working.Then in Dec. my heater starting smelling bad and smoke came out from behind the panel and the fan stopped working. I looked for the possible fixes.I am an art teacher and I am 63 and a female, but I am a relatively new teacher so I am always broke and I have issues trusting mechanics.The one mechanic I trusted refuses to work on a SAAB.So I like to know in advance the possibilities of problems so I can know if I am being bilked.So to make a long story short, while I had the brake booster fixed I also had the resistor replaced on the fan, as the forums suggested.It didn't fix it.Then I myself installed a new motor, with the help of my mechanic Saab hater's son.It is very hard to find videos for fixing my car.They are always for 2003 and above or for 9.5's.I am rambling again.The new blower did not fix the problem so I went behad the panel.I found my problem when I went to replace the broken fan dial.The back was completely melted into the housing.So now I got my new housing but I am not sure how to wire it.Do I disconnect the battery? Should I assume that all the wires to the switch are bad? It would be so awesome if someone would make a video.I am not under as much pressure to get it fix since I no longer have to scrape ice off the inside of my windshield to drive.I had some pretty tense morning drives.
