Assuming the CPS is okay, I have heard of fuel pumps making an audible noise but not actually flowing fuel. There is a test port on the fuel rail you could poke to see if there is fuel pressure at the rail. Also, where are you located?

Saabeh When you're cranking, look closely at the tachometer. If the CPS is working properly, you will see the tach bouncing slightly while cranking. Are you sure its not out of fuel?

Hylander81 Other info that might be connected, fuel gauge has been malfunctioning for 6+months. When full will read empty until having driven 60 or so miles, then will read full but read inaccurately, still showing half tank when actually near empty.

'08 Not Starting

Hello! Have a 2008 9-5 2.3t with a touch over 102,000mi that all of a sudden won't start. Day before drove 150+ miles with no problem. Engine cranks but does not start. No sputter, no catch, nothing. I do hear the buzz of the fuel pump upon turning key to On. From looking around a bit sounds like it can be one of about 6 things (CPS, plugs, fuel pump, fuel check valve, fuel filter, etc.)

Any place to start to diagnose? Please keep in mind that I'm not a mechanic and don't have anything as far as actual diagnotic tools, so pretty basic info would be appreciated. Thanks!
