DC_SAAB awesome car man....wish I could read all of what your language reads ...but the pictures speak thousands...

thanks for the feedback...now you have me rethinking my goal again..

9-3 Mike The car is a 1998 Saab 9-3 2,0T /185bhp coupé. I've just mounted a Viggen exterior. Everything else is re-inforced or modified in some way or another. The B204R is soooo much suited for upgrades than the B205R in the Viggen.

It's actually one 3" pipe splitted in to two 3" pipes..... but dividing one 3" pipes into two 2,5" pipes would be the same as mounting one 5" pipe. So that would've been enough. But I got the Apple Racing mufflers real cheap!

fyi, one single 3" pipe is enough to handle +700bhp.

DC_SAAB Hi Mike..,

NIce car, and good to meet you.. sounds like nice power, I thought it was a t7 I saw your site before, and the dualie exhaust caught my attention.

It seems most of the ECU tuners on turbo'd cars don't recommend splitting because of the complicated air-flow and back pressure needed.

I've been trying to find a decent setup like this, and can understand splitting from a 3 inch pipe to two 2.5 pipes. But it looks like there is a bottleneck created from splitting a 2.5 pipe into two 2.5 pipes.

Have you found that this setup actually increase flow? What ECU mod are you running?

hmmm
Interesting! Tell me more please!
What is that comment based upon?

VAGGEN Yeah, his name is Mike and he did that primarily for looks, but in his case with the amount of HP he's putting down, every little bit of breathability helps. He wants to be at 500 hp this summer. He has an awesome car. His site is: http://www.saabspeed.org/main.php?pa...ame=9-3%20Mike

Very nice guy too.

snow4_1man How much did you pay for yours? The only one company that i found that was selling it in the us a while back wanted like 270 and like 20 shipping.
11-11-2004 10:55 AM
DC_SAAB 300...you saying you were looking at it for $300.00 ? wow...that's a lot of loot.
You can play the money game with the pound or order it here in the states.

I haven't dyno'd it, but it really sounds and feels nice. As you already know it uses a reverse air flow concept for the intake design...using the air from the outer surfaces as opposed to the middle of the inlet. As the air explodes into the inlet it spreads out and is then ramed into the intake pipe.

Although the avatar you see here is straight back, that was for appearance. I ended up pointing mine down toward the bumper area where my stock one came out from, and feels pretty responsive even without my stage 3 Maptun ECU. I almost forgot I didn't have it in. Sounds louder..., or at least my turbo does on winding up..

I'd like to learn more about the write-ups and sources you found...the link didn't work on your referral page....cause it was no longer there. I'm a big proponent of information, and like to consider all sources whether they are valid or not.

I've learned that on some level, vendors have their own way of distorting facts....course some use to say...don't use those modified ECU's you'll destroy your car, and now they are using and selling them....consider your source is what I say..

snow4_1man Hey DC_Saab how is that Piper Cross Viper intake working for you. I was going to get one of those but I did not have 300 at the time and then I talked the some company that were selling them, and they were like its not good if your not making over like 300hp, so I never got it.

I love the look of it though its looks so nice, do you have some more pics of it? Also were did you get yours, how does it flow or sound?

DC_SAAB After extended research on the subject it appears this would be a good mod on the NA cars.., and not the turbo cars apparently.

Invariably it appears the dual exhaust would disturb the backpressure, and possibly exhaust flow needed by the turbo. In addition it appears a highly tuned ECU would be needed to take advantage of it.

So decided the single 3 inch exhaust using a aeroturbine resonator and muffler will be my preferred method of addressing the increased exhaust flow needed for the next performance level I'm looking for.

to be continued...

dasaabguy heres a pic of the ATP Razze 5's........definately a nice looking wheel!!
11-10-2004 11:02 AM
VAGGEN I did some looking too. Been having an e-mail conversation with the guy who's car it is in Sweden. He says they are made by ATP and the model is Razze 5. However, I can't find anyone in the US who carries them?! www.bigwheels.com has OZ Volcanos which are pretty close too.

Which are the Mille Miglias you'ree talking about, Rico?

BTW, he's looking at 500 hp at the crank by next summer.
11-10-2004 07:11 AM
ricot83 mike i did some research and found that millmiglia makes rims like those

VAGGEN Take a look at this site http://www.saabspeed.org/traffar/vax...s/100_0323.htm It's in Swedish which is a bummer, 'cause I'd love to know what they are talking about! Have some great shots of a 9-3 with dual exhuasts. I think bollman posted this link elsewhere on the site, just thought I'd get it some attention here.

My big question is what kind of wheels are those on the blue one?!? That's exactly what I want for my car!
