The only thing you need is a rail which is cheaper than getting every CIS line replaced with braided lines. So I'm right. Haha.
Moonracer, if your like me, enough of those lines laying around to do snakes on a plain reinactments in your living room

there would definitely be a bit of fabrication involved, not quite as easy as saabsbreakdown is implying.
VW's have the nice looking braided lines as well, might try and see if those will work.

yeah the d-jet cars had a pretty lame metal line that they used as a fuel rail, with rubber bits running to the injectors, wich are real electronic injectors unlike those k-jet things.

The starter is the same on early H-motor style 900's. If the starter is under the exhaust manifold, it will fit. If its under the intake manifold, its backwards and won't fit.
I don't know why you guys think replacing the fuel lines is important. For the same price you can go with megasquirt.
Early 99's had a funny looking fuel rail and I believe little rubber things going down to the injectors. Most EFI systems are the same: pump, line, regulator, rail, return. Very simple.

|Saab99Super||I was wondering has anyone ever looked into the steel braided fuel line on the Porsche 924? I have one and it runs damn near the same CIS system but has the braided lines. Just an idea.|

There are places that sell the solenoids as new items - Oklahoma Starter and Alternator is one (they sell on Ebay). I've never dismantled a starter to replace a solenoid though.
I guess it depends how the wiring is configured.
As for fuel lines, I still want to replace all the stock injector lines coming from the fuel distributors in my 8V 900's with something better - braided lines with aero-quip or similar fittings would be good. Just don't know of any place here in Sydney that can do it. The stock plastic lines (esp. the clear ones going to the 4 main injectors) look incredibly brittle, but the ones made from black line seem ok.
Did the same sort of stuff get used in the very early 99's which had electronic fuel injection?

These selenoids are pretty integral with the starter as far as I can tell, they engage/disengage with the flywheel when activated through a mechanical lever. You would probably have to use the whole ford starter and I'm concerned its the type that is constantly engaged to the flywheel. A mod to fix the overheated selenoids would be nice. They also freeze. It would be nice to just have it on the wall in the engine bay so you can hit it easier.
In other news the CIS problem has NOT gone away, I'm almost convinced it is just due to the weird fuel line routing the guy that did the engine transplant used. I'm going to make it 'stock' fuel line routing and see if that helps. If it doesn't I'm going strait to MS.
