Briggsdale13 | Ok it happened again yesterday. I can tell now when the issue will happen as I go to turn off the car I watch the dome light. If the dome light stays lit, then I know the car will start the next time. If the dome light is off or blinking, then I can't restart the car. When I saw the dome light dim and blinking yesterday, I immediately tried to restart the car and nothing. I looked at the key cylinder and it was normal. I inserted and removed the key several times, cycled through it depressing and returning to normal, and nothing. I let it sit for almost three hours and still nothing. I then disconnected the battery and waited 30 seconds and after reconnecting the battery the car started like there never was an issue. I've seen other threads where the Neutral sensor may cause similar symptons, but when I tried to cycle through the gears during the symptoms, I could not get out of park (I'm guessing the car needs to actually be running to shift out of Park). The car started fine this morning. So I am not sure what is precipitating the sequence of events, but it seems something has a bad connection or is failing. Any ideas? |

Briggsdale13 | Not that I have noticed. I will be sure to check for this the next time this happens. It is weird how the car will run fine for several days and then all of sudden do this. |

dan-the-kid | Is the ignition cylinder sticky and not popping back out when you take key out of the ignition? |

Intermittent Battery/Electrical issues on 9-5 My brother recently gave me his 2003 9-5 Saab while he transferred overseas. I have an an intermittent electrical problem that I am hoping someone can shed some insight. Sometimes when I go to lock/secure my car the doors will lock and then immediately unlock. As many times as I hit the lock button the alarm will chirp and doors will lock, and within a second the alarm will chirp and the doors will unlock. I am forced to leave the car unlocked. Then after I return to the car and try to start it the car acts like it has a dead battery. If I keep trying to start the car (after several minutes) the car will then start and run fine. The car will then run fine for a few days and then do the same thing. The battery was tested and was normal. Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting this? |
