codesplice Wouldn't that be for like if I clicked a link in, say, a messaging client? Hence the "other programs" part?

edit: Just checked my firefox settings. Got "links that open in a new window in: new tab". So anything with a TARGET="_BLANK" attrib will open in a new tab. :-/

Blaque Okay i just checked my browser options.

For IE 7 :

Tools> Options - Under General Tab, there's a section labeled "Tabbed browsing". Click settings.

Under the "Open links for other programs in:" section select "A new tab in the current window."

Blaque every link that i click that has a blank page target, automatically opens a new browser window instead of a new tab. Thats on this site and off.

codesplice Does anyone still have the external links open in a new tab/window?

I upgraded to the new firefox not too long ago, so that might have changed something - but I haven't seen any settings that I think would affect it. Now I'm just trying to figure out if it's a server- or client-side issue.

Yep. I was like wtf when I saw it.

<---- it was one of these things, except it was larger and was a picture of a snail I think. And no, I am not on any drugs.

Blaque No script changes have been made, so you might want to check your browser settings.

As for the Search on the homepage.. its never worked. Its javascript but I haven't had time to fix it.

External linkage

What changed? It used to be that external links would automatically open in a new tab/window when clicked. That was awesome: I could click a link in a thread (say, a link to a youtube video) and still stay on the thread.

Why isn't it this way anymore? I mean, yeah I *could* hold CTRL when I click, or just use the middle mouse button.... but that's asking an awful lot of me as a user

Any chance we can go back to how it used to be?
