If it were me, I'd be looking at the DSM line of turbos. Something like a big or EVOIII 16G would be perfect for what you're asking for. Lightweight wheels, and flow up to 46lb/min... Downside is that they're getting harder to find. More-available are the Volvo turbos like the K24, 19T, Etc. Those will max out at about 300hp, while the evoIII is capable of low 400's. If I was making a racer, I wouldn't want the turbo @ 100% all the time. It'll lead to extra heat and stress that you don't want. Over-build, and last longer. |

how much fab work do you want to do, and how much power will the drivetrain handle? From what i know those volvo axles dont like anything over 300whp this being the case, a well plumbed Tdo4 will be crazy fun. if you want to do some fab work, get an equal length header header, Holset He351 cw they spin really quick when the right stuff is around them, and can make any power you want them to getting a turbo to spin up is often times more about the pipe work around it, than the turbo itself |

Drew in Houston | My 15T converted to 19T with turbine clipping and bigger exhaust housing spools as fast or faster than the stock 15T, and keeps on making power longer.. Something like that would probably do what you're trying to do. |

Best turbo for a 2.3 engine for lots of low down torque? Exactly as the title says. Whats your opinion? The project is a certain saab converted into rwd using a Bmw e34 525 gearbox and volvo 244gl rear axle. The engine will be an older style 2.3 turbo. The plan is to enter into drift racing. Will a simple td04HL-15G Be sufficient? Or does somebody have something better in mind.. Obviously cant drift if the turbo starts spooling too late so huge turbos are not on my mind right now. |
