Noe Bros has a 4wd Saab (along with a Saab limo), now they are making a twin engine 4wd Saab also: http://www.neobrothers.co.uk/project.htm

okay...., okay...no rwd in the ng's...how bout a VX Lightening, or Sonet.
Maybe the new 9.2x would be a lil cheaper than stealing one of these or making one..
but "Dayum that Nordic car is fast...., still watching that video" 11 seconds...what in the world must the top end really be on a car like that. He's got to be reving higher than 7k....that's just incredible. where's his site at?

|Tweek's Turbos||My guess would be to find a Pontiac Azteck, or Saturn Vue. I think those may have the best bets for bolting up to the chasis. You could have English folk rummage the breakers for the Vauxhall that WAS AWD It would work perfectly, but its a tricky system.|

the v6 ng900's were rwd?
yea, i finally saw it, the last time i saw that saab, it was running mid 12's...apparently they made it faster

maybe if you coulf find a NG900 NA 6 with rear wheel drive, drop in a front wheel drive engine and tranny. Might be a way to link it up.....
oh by the way...did you see that 11 second Nordic...dayum that's fast.

|Boxerchip||someone needs to do this and make a kit.... I mean an AWD viggen... could it get any better?|
|09-09-2004 09:52 AM|
11.03 is damn near 11 seconds to me :P Watch how he handles it
|09-09-2004 09:40 AM|
yes, i have seen the nordic tuned 2.5gt 9-3....and to my recollection it is not an 11 sec car, the best it ran was 12.18....anyways, by "undriveable" i mean by comparison to awd or rwd, fwd is not a preferred system for high hp to the best of my knowledge
|09-09-2004 09:12 AM|
|BurnsSide42||those AWD Pontiacs are neat cars too - shame ya had to sell it - bet my old man woulda bought it - I had him ready to before ya e-bayed it.|
|09-09-2004 09:09 AM|
|DeLorean||you could use the drive system out of a pontiac 6000 if you were creative. then again, you could just use the whole 6000 and drop a turbo 3.1 in there. those things can rip!|
|09-09-2004 08:25 AM|
|BurnsSide42||what do you mean - undriveable??? As long as your trans holds up it's driveable. Have you seen Nordic Tuning's 420whp (i think it was) 11 second car - it's still fwd - seems to have almost no problems watching it launch.|
|09-09-2004 08:17 AM|
i wasn't planning on doing anything, it was more out of curiosity....assuming that the 9-3 was really hopped up on power i.e. 400-500whp, it would become undriveable with a fwd system
does anyone have crazy torque steer with their car? even with my stock 9-3, i can't hold the car straight?
|09-09-2004 07:26 AM|
Jeez.....you'd need most of a new drivetrain and engine, unless you could source one with a transverse engine (maybe a DSM?) ...
a rear drive axle and diff (or axles if you don't do an old-school solid rear end like a Mustang, which fits)
new, fabricated axle brackets (readily available and easily welded on)
new rear suspension mounts mounted precisely (any errors would really whack out the handling)
center diff and drive shaft (this is the tricky part...)
there's probably more...I'm just going off the top of my head...)
possible area of exploration: find out if there is an available center diff that is small enough to fit with the current Saab center drive axle, enabling you to keep the front of the car stock. My suspicion is that if there was an easy way to do this, it would have been done.
So...let's say you can get this going, you'd need to seriously hop up the engine to compensate for the 25% drivetrain loss you'd see -- and that's if your setup was as efficient as production models. So if you got your 9-3 up to 250bhp, you'd show about 185 whp...which is what you started with. (check my figures on this..)
After all was said and done....you would have spent enough time and money to buy a used WRX.

2wd to 4wd conversion
does anyone know what is required to do a 2wd to 4wd conversion?
what parts are needed and how to do it?
i'm not looking for a "don't do it, it's stupid" response
