hopefully if nothing goes wrong and I get this house it has a big garage and workshop. plenty of room to tinker. I have some aluminum for making but it seems pretty thick. but I just found some more that is much thinner and could probably do the trick.....

2k193turbo Dan,
I'm down. It just sucks that I don't have allot of resources right now.

All we'd have to do is take some measurements, might even be able to get the material pre cut, then just use the edge of a table as a break and bend it like that.

One idea that I had (after seeing what Rico did with metal) was to make a cowl piece out of fiber glass. It could even act as a shroud between the bumper and intercooler to really direct all of the air coming through the vent in the bumper through the intercooler.. Not sure how much it would really help….. but it would be pretty cool.

Hey we could always just shoot the license plate over to the side like on the Evo

Les Bouquins Must suck to live in a state where front plates are mandatory ;)

abdukted1456 Pete is you can bend the metal I know where we can get some cheap. I just am not sure what tools to use. I would split it with you.

2k193turbo I had some duct tape on mine ghetto style, but took it off when I took off my front bumper and haven't gotten around to putting more on there.
If someone made a simple duct out of sheet aluminum like ricot made for his IC I'd buy one.
I'm just too lazy to make one myself.

ricot83 i ducted my ic a long time ago
08-10-2005 11:53 PM
iwantaviggen did he say anything about 'ducting' the IC?

i wana make some plates like on Kevin Ys and i think adrian did it too...

jrbrangi when I was showing Frank from SQR my new IC that was the first thing he instructed me to move, so I did
08-10-2005 08:57 PM
iwantaviggen i just relocated mine...

to the back seat.....

burre I just simply turned the holder upside-down. That way it sits a bit higher, which ensures full flow to the intercooler opening, and still uses all 4 screws to attach it.
08-08-2005 08:49 PM
mg_td i did that too
08-08-2005 02:30 PM
2k193turbo yep, it's still sturdy........ I've even tested it out at high speeds (on the track of coarse)
08-08-2005 02:25 PM
jrbrangi so is the license plate only held in by the 2 screws now?
08-08-2005 02:22 PM
2k193turbo Thought I'd mention that I came up with another free cooling "mod"

If you look at the front of a 93 (not sure about NG900), the license plate slightly hangs over the intercooler opening. It always kinda pissed me off, and I thought I was going to have to make a little bracket to relocate it, which to me would seem like a waste of time for such a marginal gain in airflow.

After looking at it I realized there was a much easier solution.
If you take off your license plate there are 4 screws that hold the license plate holder to the bumper.
If you remove the screws that hold the license plate holder to the bumper and slide it up until the lower 2 holes on the license plate holder line up to where the upper 2 holes used to be attached on the bumper, and screw it back in there, it raises the license plate up about an 1 1/2" which reduces the amount of air that the licensed plate block from going through the intercooler opening.
Although I'm sure the results are marginal, every little bits helps to some extent right guys?

I attached a pic with my plate moved up. Sorry about the pic quality, I'll I've got is a camera phone.

I forgot to mention that I also installed the euro fog light delete pieces. They come with the backs closed off so if you want the air to flow through like the grill inserts next to the stock fog lights you have to saw the backs of the fog light delete grilles off. It’s easy though and only takes 10-15 min per grill.

trexturk i just put a small pipe inplace of the TB and it does make a difference.
It was 85 here at night and the car still pulled hard.
Not like before it would get sluggish after 45 minutes of the car running.
like most said, its worth while.

06-07-2005 01:24 PM

Q-SAAB Spacers sound like a great idea - either for the TB or the intake manifold - what prices you looking at?
06-07-2005 06:12 AM
