I did the headlight switch replacement method (and my lights are on all the time now, which I don't mind at all), but NastySaab used a cool method where he hooked the headlight switch up to the rear fog lamp. Now, the rear fog switch (top) works the headlights, and the middle works the front fogs (as normal). I believe they even work independent of each other...
I'll refer him to the thread since I don't know exactly how he did it.

|griffen nut||I think im going to dremel a second hole below the stering wheel near my left knee to fit the headlight switch|

|nbndtrain||I had to demel the opening so the switch won't ever fit back. You leave the light switch in the on position and cover it with some cloth (no rattles) and zip tie it inside/behind the dash. I also had to demel out the screw mount that is normally behind the light switch to get it to fit flush.|

I did it, doesn't look bad, you can see it easy enough.
You should remove the dash to get the gauge bracket on properly. And plan on your lights being on all the time.

its too hard, cuase of the shape of the air grille, and the way that it directs air, it has all those plates that align in a certian direction to direct the air.
it would be sweet though. I dont like a pillar guages as much as i did when i first got into cars, i think as factory as possible would be nice though, or a Digital boost guage in the dash, in place of the fake one.
or just have calibration, psi or BAR on the stock guage would be nice

thats pretty cool, i want one now

they have stuff like that? you should provide picks so i can see exactly what you mean (if you can find any).

Does anyone know how to start this?
1.) Do you disconnect the wires that are attatched to the actual headlight switch?
2.) How do you get the wiring for the boost gauge BEHIND the headlight switch.

AWE Tuning gauges are the shit. My ex has one in her GTI.

|griffen nut||Does anyone have a DIY? I dont mind that it will be behind the wheel....i dont use the gauge that much anymore anyways and am going to keep my car fairly stock so monitoring boost isnt a priority, the clean look is more important to me...my pod looks so ricer right now|

I haven't had visibility problems but its distracting keeping an eye on both the gauge and road at the same time. Also, did anyone else have to remove the screw inside the dash just to the left of the lightswitch location? My gauge wouldn't fit flush without taking that screw out (I think its used to mount the vent).
But its an easy job, and 2/16 inch is 52mm, the same size gauge from speedparts sold by genuinesaab/elkparts.com. Just need a dremel tool to get it fitting snugly.

|fieldsc||does anyone have a picture of the audi boost gauge? That sounds kind of cool.|

So I could just get a pod for it if I wanted to. Good to know, thanks.

I've thought about putting a boost gauge in the light switch, but as others mentioned it's partially obstructed. You could turn the gauge so it sat at an angle where the important part (peak boost) was visible, but then that just messes with my whole "everything must be aligned and balanced" OCD and won't work for me.
Do the 9-3's have an a-pillar airbag?

|mg_td||i can see one half of the center vent used like that, but it probably wouldnt look so hot.|
|07-26-2006 12:49 PM|
Then the vent wouldn't work as well though.
No more "***" in front of every thread tittle, please.

just pull the headlight switch out, and test fit the guage.
I really think the one of the saab manufacturers should come out with the boost guage pod in the air vents like aud'i's

|Saab93cse||You need to do a little dremel work...|
