|kalvinr11||Ok, this is annoying the crap out of me. I look at my rotors now, and realize I should have painted them (the hub part not the friction surface, duh) to stop surface rust from forming....and it's pissing me off because now I have to tear it all down again and sand and paint then, whereas I could have just painted them in the first place had I thought of it. My question is, what type of paint to use? Is there a spray can that matches the Lightning Blue (that might be one in a billion) that is also high temp? And could this paint for the rotors be used for calipers as well? If nothing else, what brand of black gloss high temp would you recommend? I may tackle it this coming weekend. Thanks|

|kalvinr11||I may get around to putting it back on today. I tried the screw driver and the pick method but it never went on. I'm just going to bust out the vise-grips and do it that way - when I actually get around to doing it.|

I had luck pulling it back in with some strong wire. Makes it easy to pull and guide in the hole.
Vice grip sounds good too.

|JK||yeah....you'll want that back on there. Clamp it hard with a vice grip and put some muscle into it and you should be able to coax it into place.|

|kalvinr11||I think it may have not been all the way off (hmm, I guess that's why a spring is there ) which is why I couldn't get it to go. It's definitely not on now though. Had to drive a Volvo once with a stuck e-brake. It ended up being more like dragging the one tire that was stuck.|

|mg_td||yeah i can get away with these rotors for a short while, my fronts both needed replacing. make sure the ebrake is off, then do it. itll be easy.|

New Rear Brakes Finally
Finally got around to doing my rear brakes after finally ordering all the stuff last week. I bought the rotors from Genuine Saab, and as expected they were perfect. I got Hawk pads just because of their price on the Tire Rack and they were "Low" on the Satisfied Pro Ceramics. I wasn't really looking for "performance" persay but I wanted something better than OEM. The whole process of removing/replaing isn't that hard for anyone that may be considering doing it themselves. I actually didn't have any trouble with the retainer screw as many people seem to have had.
Old rotor, the right side. Why I needed to replace it. Along with the outside pad being lower than the other three.
New Rotors installed with the wheel on. Stupid P6000's.
Now, my one question about the whole thing. On the left side, when I went to bolt the caliper back on, there was this metal plate that went over the side of the caliper. It had a spring that went to the e-brake assembly. The spring is too short to make it from assembly to the metal bracket, however is was attached when everything came off. On the right side the spring fit fine, with only minimal tugging to get it to go attach at both ends. Here's the best picture I could get (above the rotor in the wheel well...)
There's a general pic of it. Hopefully the red circles and line come out. If anyone knows this is a serious safety hazard, check if I am on AIM and send me an IM at kalvinr11, otherwise email me at [email protected]. If it's not terribly serious just let me know here and I'll eventually get around to fixing it (like tomorrow if I can). The e-brake works properly as do the brakes themselves. Thanks.
