MistaSantos Why don't you upgrade your shocks instead of putting stock springs? Since you already have the springs.

Peregrine 98 900SE Coupe.
No idea which springs. They were on the car when purchased.
I am considering putting the stock ones back on. I'd prefer to go smoothly over bumps... not feel like I'm riding in a Corvette.

kwkslvr Ya, ive actually come to the conclusion to hold off on the ecu tuning for now..right NOW anyways lol. And do a full suspension upgrade. Koni adjustables with springs, sterring clamp, and rear away..Possibly more.. As well as exhaust and brakes..Then everything should be ready for the tuning.

Im also very curiouson how much it would cost for the install. I do believe i was quoted for around 4-6 or more house for labour..which seems kind of crazy...and that was from a shop that likes to screw people over. So im guessing that quote isnt very accurate.....

MistaSantos I've read some terrible posts regarding Monroe shocks with people pretty much saying to stay away from them. It seems like KYB is the most safest and cost effective route to a suspension upgrade. Can anyone give me a ball park figure on what it costs to have an Indy replace springs and shocks?

kwkslvr I myself thought of going to them...would anyone have these in stock. Id rather not pay to have them shipped...

Althought, you can have them shipped for free for orders over $50 at autopartswarehouse.com

They also have monroe shocks..ANyone have any experience with these?

infamous There's nothing wrong at all with the KYB struts and they have been a long standing recommended/preferred suspension upgrade for the Saab market, not to mention that they come with a lifetime warrantee.

Price, performance, warrantee..., how can you go wrong? For myself, I don't buy because of "name", I buy because of practicality, performance and reliability.

MistaSantos Could I get away with buying new KYB shocks (very cheap) with lowering springs or do I still run the risk of a bouncy ride. The main reason for the lowering springs for me is for looks, less body roll is a bonus. Those Bilsteins & Koni's are out of my budget.

gm I'm not sure if these are the original shocks, I bought the car with 51k. The car rides really well no bounce whatsoever.

How much does it cost to install sprinfs

saabkid37 i lowered a 9000 with 168k on it and had no issues with shocks even after i wrecked it at 177...

i put spring son my aero with 97k and am up to 109k with no symptoms at all...

gm with those miles your shocks are toast! My shocks were well on their way out at 45K & presently at 75K they make all kinds of noises... I would get them in there when you swap the springs, makes labor cheaper!!!

My brothers 98 SET has intrax/koni & the ride is definantly on the stiff side, handling is great but comfort isn't the best. I am not sure if there are other springs available which would give better ride.

If you are not concerned about lowering your car you could just do shocks.

Peregrine Lowering springs and stock shocks here. Ride is a bit bumpy, but shocks do NOT seem to be any worse for wear.

WyldSaabMan the stock shocks, may be alright for a little while, but they will likely be underdamped for the lowering springs, an will start to wear out much faster.

People Have done it, but some find the ride to be bouncy

How bad an Idea is it...

How bad an Idea is it to install lowering springs with out changing the the shocks? My current stock shocks still seem to have a lot of life left in them and I don't have the money to buy both. The car has less than 61k on it I bought it with 51k a year & 5 months ago. This car is practically a weekend car. Monday thru friday I drive about 7 miles a day.

I'm a little concerned that the intrax springs might drop it too low. but I seen pics of other peoples cars that look great with them but they also changed the shocks for either Koni's or Bilsteins. Does anybody know what brand are the lowering springs that the SaabSite sells for the ng900?
