I actually think more miles the better sometimes, just for that reason. Especially with saabs...

I thought i read that in the owners manual? Maybe it was an article on it when it first came out. I'll look in the owners manual tomorrow....

HawaiianSAAB One selling point for me on the 01 and 02 WAS the TCS and that allowed me to run a flex fuel E85 prog that Nick brewed up for me....E85 is 'cheat gas' and I'm hooked. Thanks Nick!
my 2 cents,
Greg

Pistons are weak in all Viggens. Some maybe weaker than others, but pistons are needed at the 300whp mark, though there have been cars that ran more and were fine. There have also been plenty grenaded at stock power levels. Nick explained to me one time my car was safer on Nordic than it was stock, more built in protection.

YES!!! My car has had more problems with 33,000 miles than my mechanics 240k mile 9000CSE. It sucks for sure, all sorts of money spent on stuff that should be lasting tens of thousands more miles.

gm I didn't was tcs so 01+ was out plus they were out of my pricerange at the time

I also wanted a 5dr so 2K was what I ended up with

some state pistons are weaker in the 99's & I think 01+ is the best....

I think it was a 02 vert that had the most power in stock form that I have seen, if I recall it was around 235 whp & 290+wtq vs my 2K was 213 whp & 268 wtq

Legit intake pipe, downpipe, injectors, pistons, ecu I think

Surprisingly i got the 2001 cheaper than the others were asking, probably cause of the lower miles. They were not in as good as shape though and no PVC updates....

When did onstar get put in? - You can;t use it cause it's analog, but that is a difference...

This.

I have seen Viggens all over the place in terms of health and performance and the year did not matter at all. If anything, the 99's are likely to be the oldest/highest mileage and needing some work. But I have seen dyno's of every kind of Viggen and there is no direct link between certain years making more power than others.

Traction control can be shut off very easily when you want to spin the tires (above 45 i think it automatically cme on wether it's switched off or not) but it already controlled some high speed hydroplaning with shot tires.

i'm curious if i have to drive it in the snow what it'd be like, but i don't want to...

I' d like to know more stuff on the different years too, so this is getting subscribed to.

Jameson No, the 99' had no T5 parts.

I personally do not like TCS, just another thing to break and never had a use for it.

99's are said to be down 5hp over the later years but with dyno's that 5hp varies from car to car and means nothing.

GenuineSaab 2000- had quite a few updates

Cobrapipe, injectors/inletmanifold
Rods and pistons are different.

2001- came with tcs.

Just for a start.

Viggen 99 vs 00-02

Hey i was just curious to see if there was any difference in the any of the viggens? Was the 1999 a bit stronger cuz it had some of the t5 internals or is that not true. Any insight ont eh 1999- vs say a 2002 model would be great thanks!
