Saab99Super Finished the rattle can experience up today.

After wetsanding.

Final coat of paint.

Finished product with an all over scotch-brite rub down.

Now I just have to see how it buffs out after drying more. Moonracer tried a little bit tonight but it seems like it needs to be harder to get enough cut to blend off the edges.

Saab99Super IDK what the center console is supposed to fit. All I know is it it don't fit a saab. It fits that way after a serious date with a cut-off wheel. I think it could be made to fit a little better but untill that time I'll probably put a regular radio blister in for the time being.

On another note did a bunch more work to the ol girl in the beauty department. Main thing was found out the color is a very close match to rattle can dupli-color white.

Now you see the rust blister.

Now you don't.

The next job was to cover what I think was supposed to read wash.

So a couple coats of primer and some color I think should cover like the other.

All in all I think this should work pretty good as a cover up untill I tear it all down a few years down the road and fix it the right way. The rear quarter sure buffed out nice though.

Then since we had the rubbing compound out Josh figured try a little on the wheels and I think this will be another project of stripping and repainting.

All in all I think it should clean up good enough to hopefuly bring to SOC this year. Plus this will be the first project car where I actually documented the work done on it.

Is that a 900 centre console? How good is the fit?

Saab99Super Oh yes the price was perfect.

Well I got more pics taken of the car. No waxing was done though. Damn thing waxes like I'm dragging an eraser across the it but it is working at the expense of my arm.

DeLorean So it needs a rack, eh? Well that's not good! There was a group buy for the typical 99 failure rack bits over on, through unfortunately I don't think you would be able to get in at this point. I'm sure you will probably be able to find at least 1 good used one in you guys parts stash, but simply rebuilding a 99 manual rack is basically an impossibility The parts that break have been NLA since the mid 80's...

JK I think the first two things I'll do to my 99 is lower it...after fixing the gas tank rust

Saab99Super It's amazing how well it drives with the worn out rack in it.

It runs great now. Went through and patched in the shrunk up window seals/hatch seal. Put on the ol' Mini-lites I found a while ago and Rob and I just got done getting all the lites working.

A few major things are left like the rack need's to be replaced/rebuilt, go through my parts to put the under dash panels back together, and mount the extra center console I have in there.

More pics will come once there is a good wax and interior clean done on it.

Edit: Yeah she sits pretty tall and there is TONS of body roll to her. Maybe at some point down the road there will be some lowering action done.
