|crazybrightman||i have 18x8 compomotive cxt's with 225/40/18 toyo t1r's (actual width 231mm) et 35 offset and they rub on the front arch linears. you could easily get away with et38 and clear the strut still handling would be better too.|

|93nut||8 1/2 wide rims + 18 = FAIL at any rate with the 9-3|

It's offset dependent.
My old 18's had 215's with 35mm offset. No rubbing on Koni's and Vogtlands.
69MGB (no longer in a Saab) had 225's on 18x8 with 32mm offset. No rubbing.
I'm going to try 235 on 17x8 with 235 tires next week.

|Champ||I have Ronal 17x8.5" and I am told they rub on a koni'd Viggen with 225/45|

|AeroDynamic||I never said its not going to work on a 9-3 because it didn't work on a 9k. where did I ever say that? I just feel 8.5 is pushing it with my experience with 9-3's.|

[QUOTE=Keep me updated on what you choose for a tire width. The rims i have are a offset of 35 and viggen wheels are ET of 42 my adapters are going to be 19 that will bring my ET back to 42. Might make it 20mm to gain a extra mm but not sure as of yet.[/QUOTE]
adapters will decrease the offset. so the wheels will stick out more. so if you have 35mm. with 19mm adapters your offset will be 16 . lower offset sticks out and higher offset goes in.

I'm putting 18x8.5 on my viggen, their is a guy with 17x8.5 and had no issues and his car was lowered.
I have yet to buy the tires just waiting on the right time and what size to get. If their is going to be rubbing then i plan on rolling the fenders just a little bit. The process is not that hard and really not that involved just a precaution. With 9k vs the 9-3 i don't think you can really justify saying its not going to work causeit did not work on the 9k.
I plan on putting Nicks coilovers on the vig so i can adjust the front to suite my needs. It will mostly be a track car with everyday driveability. I live in the City but as it is i really don't use my car at all during the week.
To say don't do... Have a open mind rolling the fenders a little bit is not hard at all. I wanted a wider wheel so thats what i went for.
