Couple days of dyno time on the 2.3Na car..
Well thought it time to post preliminary info on what I have been playing with on my 2.3i shop car.
Some Highlights:
Inlet manifold swap to short runner turbo for more topend, lost midrange.
Cam timing both intake and exhaust. Can vary power all over the place.
V6 maf swap 60mm > 70mm diameter. Not right but works 50%
T5 Injector to make the above work, increased fuel press 3.5/4.0 maybe.

I will get some plots up sometime. Some worked some didn't.

Tonight head comes off, switching to B2x5 thinner headgasket = more compression and while the head is off going to throw a t7 head with the same 234i cams just to see.

Maybe then my T5 harness will be here and I can get to actually calibrating it rather than swapping airflow parts.

Making N/A power is quite challenging and lots of fun! No 50hp gains here. ;)

good luck i am sure there are a lot of 900S etc owners on here dying for what you come up with.

this is why i went from N/A to FI.
i had a 2.0 jetta. 272cam, duel valve springs, flywheel, chip, underdrive pulleys, adjustable cam gears, header, full exhaust, thin head gasket. = 43whp :-( i got about 6mpg more so thats good.

so nick how long intil you have all those parts made for the n/a 2.3?

^yeah, no doubt.

Well it is officially now the Black, Silver and Red car.. ;) 9-3Se skirts.
V6 maf housing rigged in.. The wires were cut in the crash before we got it.

Head off in 1.5hr.. Not super fast but hey..

Going to grind a little on the head too. Will find out how it puts out by noon tomorrow.

I like the color scheme going for you.... maybe do a gray and red stripe all the way from the front to the rear along the center line of the car hood, roof, to trunk. After you do this and see the results... might you try and lower the compression, maybe even see if its possible to run an LPT header and a standalone boost controller?

looking good :)

I like the 9-3 front end SO much better than the NG.

Also, nice grillE.

looks like shes going pretty good.

i find this car more interesting then many of the FI cars we are building. i do not know why:)

Nice! Me likes, but not till next year.

are you notching the cams or something? you mentioned playing with cam timing.

He does it the same way the swedes do and what many do in place of adjustable cam gears. You just remove the keyway, put the cams wherever you want and lock them down to 50 ft-lbs with lock tight on the bolt.

I ran my enem cams this way for 2 months before putting on the maptun cam gears, or speed parts. The stock cam gears are much easier to work with and much easier to adjust.

I had a hell of a time getting the speed parts adjustable cam gears to line up right and stay there while you tightened the 6 allen bolts and main cam gear bolt down. Took my 6 hours in all:mad: The stock cam gears with removed key-way took me about 2 hours to get dialed in and perfect when it was all tight.

Takes me about a minute to change the cam timing.. ;) Maybe 30 times in the past couple days.. :( Done now till I get trionic. I am too stuck with stock timing and cant optimize it for my new flow. Tried lying to it with load (70mm vs 60mm maf) scaling to get back into the middle of the timing map it makes a mess of fuel / timing on low loads when I get enough injector to keep it reasonably near LBT

Only need a trionic harness...
