well as soon as i get a job, im gonna start pouring money into my car. reason being, is that right now i have over 2 grand i nthe bank, i just dont wanna keep spendin it without puttin any money in (considering about a year ago i had almost 4k in the bank, spent 1400 on a comp, and 220 or so for the intake pipe and sway bar, and some other things that werent for my car)

so im bascialyl trying to plan out wut im gonna be getting, heres my list. what do you guys recomend i do?
-Rob's/Group9's Intake Concoction... $120ish
-Window Tint (VA law is 50 front 35 rear)... $150ish i guess but dont really know
-Component Speakers...probly rockfords, about $200
-Upgraded Rear Speakers... anywhere from $50 - $100
-MPperformance Short Shifter... $80ish
-New Battery (mine is dying)... anywhere from $25-$150 (depending on whether i get junk or an optima yellowtop)

Thats about all i can think of for now, what order do u guys think i should do them in? anything you think i shouldnt do or isnt worth the money? any feedback is appreciated.

thanks, dan

On a N/A 900s
I recon putting those money into a turbo SAAB would be money better spent
The price of a ng900 SE HOT is almost down to nothing here in Sweden and I guess it´s even lower in the states...

Gotta agree with Bollman... but if you're sinking money into the car anyway, I'd say get yourself a good battery first. There's no point in adding all sorts of cool shit if you've got to have three people push-start you every time you want to go somewhere.

My stealership gets plenty of 94-99ish cars in on trade, but they usually won't sell a used car unless it's Saab Certifiable, which those aren't. So they keep 'em in the back lot for a few days before sending them off to auction. They may be a little "rough" but they'd be glad to sell to you at a low price, as-is, to avoid the cost of taking it to auction.

So...

your dad's car +2k banked = 99 9-3. And yeah, that's got a turbo.

Thanks for the comment on myspace, guru ;)

Where exactly are you located? I'm in the market for a turbo right now. If you can find a 2 dr. 5 spd preferably with leather, let me know. I'd really like one.

Thom-- PM sent.

Dan-- think long and hard about this. You've got a decent car, but it's your dad's and stuff. Imagine how good it'd feel if you were driving around in a nice shiny turbo that wasn't ever your dad's.

On second thought, don't do the window tint. It'll probably look weird on a blue car, and don't forget all the crap RCM went through. Not worth it.

Dan, I know your dad wont let you get a turbo, I say get a 24mm sway bar for the front and some poly bushings.

My top pic for tires are Potenza SO-3 pole positions from Bridgestone.

rob i know its 69 bucks, but when its all said and done... dont forget itll be 35ish bucks for teh k&n filter and i still need 3 silicone couplers. plus shipping for the pipes and tax for the k&n filter and the couplers.

a new car is out of the question for me, ive already bugged my dad about trading ours in, getting a newer one and me paying the difference but he doesnt want to, and i cant do much aboot it.

i dont see much point in more upgrades to the suspension or chassis, my 150hp doesnt really need it.

I totally disagree with this. I'd say beause you car only has 150 hp you need it even more. Let's say you were in a race, not that you would, but just saying. If you were against a turbo car, at the end of a straight you might be say, 10 car lenths behind. But if you have a better suspension, you won't have to slow down as much through the corner. By the time you get at the end of the corner, you could be cloer, even, or ahead of the car with more power.

if i raced on a track i would competely agree with u. however since the only races i do are 1/4 mile, flat and straight... its not gonna matter. plus alot of that suspension/chassis stuff is hard to do, and i suck with cars.

I might dive into some nice suspension mods now. Just need the cash of course. Koni Shocks, Intrax Lowering, Front Sway Bar, upgraded anti-roll bar in the front etc...

Dan hate 2 b a dick once again.. but your 1/4 mile races are gonna be the slowest most boring ones out there... find an auto-x club around and go watch it, even just once... then u will find that there is much to be inmproved upon in the car, then u will get outta street racing.. TRUST ME 150hp will get u no where in a 3000lb car racing "1/4 miles" it will however get u learning limits and how to drive better if used in auto-x

Dan...Autocrosses aren't on tracks and don't need tracks. Cones in a parking lot against the clock. Trust me, there's something reasonably close to you. I was trying to get you the link to your local chapter of the SCCA, but their websites being screwy right now. Hell, I used to drive 2 hours to auto-x my Impreza. 1.8L AWD car, trust me, it was slower than your NG. But I still had a blast and learned a lot sbout driving it. I used to beat modified 2.5RSes time for time just because the idiots didn't know how to drive them. You need to find one and go try it out. You'll get hooked. SAABs are meant to go fast around corners....

dan being that im in the same car as you and i really cant do much right now about trading it for something else, here is what i reccomend.

1- intake/ exhaust: get robs intake concoction...look for a used viggen cat back, or get the saab sport exhaust. check ebay im sure ull find something...

2- suspension: any upgrades you can afford..intrax lowering springs, maybe a squid bar. again, check ebay for these things i found my springs on ebay for cheaper than anywhere else

3- finish up the audio projects youve been working on

4- tints: by the way, tints are gonna cost u more than 150 most likely

i have to say that with my wide rims/ tires and the springs and sway bars, my cars handling does a decent job at putting a smile back on my face after i get smoked off the line...also remember that our cars are not gonna be fast without tons of money, so just try to do things to aid the look and sound of your car.
