Resonator box

I've searched on this topic, and I found some answeres, but I still didn't get a clear understanding of how the resonator works. So there's a tube that runs from near the wheel well. This tube runs into the resonator box, then another tube comes out, and goes where? If I'm getting a cone for my intake, I can simply take out the whole box altogether, right?

I forgot to tell you. you have it right but where does it go? one side draws air from the wheel well the other side goes up to the airbox.

ok hold on...

i think the "resonator box" that he is referring to is the air filter box...

heres hwo the intake works, air goes into the inlet tube and thru that first box, the air filter is inside it... then it goes out the other end of the airbox and through a rubber bendy tube into the resonator box, which sits ontop of the throttle body. then the air goes into the throttle body and then into the engine....

if you were to get a cone filter, you would need to take that whole airbox off, but also get some new piping so your filter isnt pulling in hot engine air...

on my below picture, the green arrow is the air filter box, the red arrow is the air resonator box

on the other picture, that is how you would set up the cone filter intake

but, also go to this thread b/c this is the best intake setup of them all

I don't have the same engine as you, so I dont' have that black box above my engine where yours is. I believe my resonator box is below my filter box, will have to investigate. Thanks for the replies though.

I should be alright with the intake. I haven't posted any pics of my car yet, so here goes.

EDIT: She's a bit dirty, dirt roads will do that .
