2 mufflers

yeah read erlier sumwehre that we have a cat and 2 mufflers on our cars, but i havent ever looked to see if its true so if its not dont balme me

anyway, why do we have the 2 mufflers? is it possible to replace the first muffler (the one more towards the engine) and replace it with piping ? wouldnt that increase performance and sound better with only the 1 muffler? any ideas about this? would a catback system replace 1 of those muffelers with piping?

beh, i just dont know much

dan dude yur killin me... you gotta do some research... just a little at least....

its a pre muffler... its more to keep the tone down... a resignator (sp)
from what ive been told...

yeah you could take it out... i dont think it would hurt emissions either...

no offence......

GET THE DAMN MANUAL ALREADY

You sure you aint talking about the catalytic converter...lol...No there are two silencers on the exhaust, self explanatory...You can remove them sure, that's what I am going to do when I get a 2.5" exhaust. DO NOT REMOVE THEM if you have stock exhaust muffler, or it will sound like SHIT!

i was thinking about cutting the resonator out of the viggen exhaust and replacing it with a straight pipe....but i am happy with the sound of the exhaust now, and i wouldnt want to do that work and ruin my exhaust note. do you guys think it would be worth it to throw a straight pipe in the place of the resonator?
