Which exhaust?

Chaps,

It is my Birthday next week and my wife has kindly agreed to buy me a new exhaust. Due to financial restraints, it will be a 'cat back' at most.

My exhaust is in fairly good shape, I would just like a more powerful exhaust note, nothing too raspy and boy racer, just more substantial and basey. The car looks standard from the outside.

I have narrowed it down to the three below and wondered what your thoughts and experiences are. The first is a Jetex (cat back) stainless steel at 264, the second is a JT (cat back) in steel at 295 and the last is an Abbott Racing (back box only) in stainless at 199, which promises a 6 BHP increase. I must admit I like the twin pipe.

Apologies if this covers old ground but I'm really stuck for choice.

I would go stainless all the way. That way you don't have to ever worry about it down the road.

Does anyone have personal experience of the Jetex system? I prefer the Abbott back box with its twin pipes myself, but with the Jettex you get the centre box for just 65 more.

Does anyone know if the abbott backbox really gives you 6 bhp? I would think just changing out the muffler wouldn't make it that much less restrictive...
