thank you so much for info! Also, I haven't really decided on what brand of head gasket I should get. They have Elring , Victor Reinz and oem sweden . I've heard from many shops they replace the gasket with Elring, Also reading articles where they had used victor reinze didnt work out so well. Have you replaced HD? What typoe have you used and is there any thing I should know before oputting it on?

    Thank you so much,

For the non-moving parts like the guides and chain, ebay parts are fine. make sure you buy an endless chain. Havign to deal with a master-link is a giant pain.

for moving parts like pulleys and tensioners, buy original, or well-built aftermarket. having to replace an engine because you wanted to save $25 isn't worth it.

As for the "loose" chain, some of it can be from the chain stretching, but it's not much. most of the slack is from the guides being grooved. Now, you *can* replace the guides and chain with the engine in, but I've never done it. Usually, the faster guys will pull the engine and do it on the stand. It's not a bad idea, as you'd be able to pull the oil pan, and check the accessories like alternator, power steering pump, and water pump for their condition, and clean the engine. It's also a good time to replace your vacuum hoses. everything it 100x easier when the engine's on the stand.
