Restoring and re-dying Lightning Blue Viggen seats
2 Attachment(s)
I have a 2000 lightning blue vert and it was a California Car so the seats were kind of cracked but in good shape.

I bought lighting blue dye from Gliptone and its awesome stuff.

They have Lightning blue Viggen interior color and it is pretty much a perfect match

I attached before and after pics and will describe what I did.

After treating the seats to a good amount of cleaning and conditioning. I used the instructions and used the stuff from Gliptone in the UK to clean it and used MAF solvent for the last cleaning before dying

I brushed a THIN coat of the dye on the seats then wiped it off immediately with a dry cloth then used a damp cloth to wipe it off again. This allows the dye to seep into the cracks of the leather and dye the naked area, but can be easily wiped off the rest of the area. This is good because it dyes the new leather in the cracked area before setting on the other areas, especially where the leather has a pebbled look.

As you can see it looks way better and if you would like and are really detail oriented ( I am not) you can go back over the cracks with a small model brush or flat toothpick to add small dots to hide the cracks a bit more,

I'll have to look into buying some!
Too bad my drivers seat has a rip in it.

I have a 500ML bottle its never going to get used. I used maybe 5 ml to do my seats especially since you are only going to get it in the blue area and not re-color the seats and between the pebbled stuff and for cracks,

. I will send out aliquots of 50 ml to whoever needs some for 15 Dollars including shipping.

I also have matching black for side bolsters.

My bolsters were pretty worn, no before pics but this bolster was pretty worn ( you an see at the seam bead ( I added color to that too after and unless you get close like this you don;t see it. ) you can see a little of the dye ( this was before I figured out about the wiping technique. Again unless you get very close you can;t tell

This stuff was spendy at 56 pounds plus international shipping. Trying to re-coup my costs a bit but it saves you a ton of money and time since you do not need to re-rolor the whole thing to get a match.

Color match looks a bit off in the pics. Does it look more of a match in person?
