ECU question

So I have a chance to get a ECU and a DI cassette from a guy on craigslist for 70 bucks.

the DI has 42k miles on it, the ECU is from a 96set.

Now here is the question....The ECU is from an automatic car. So I know its different from one in a manual car, but what I was wondering is, can it be tuned to be from a manual car? or In other words would it make a good core?

should be able to be used as an ECU to get tuning done to as long as they know it WAS from an auto and its going to be used in 5spd. either way $70 is a deal and if the ECU wont work then sell it and keep the DI

well for $70....it's almost worth experimenting. can't any ECU be a usable core? it's just programing unless the 96set's ECU itself is different.

96 and later t5 had better hardware board (faster chips) They are all the same ECU hardware, just different calibrations. Only condition is that it must be a GOOD ecu..
