It should work if you keep the numbers equal. Offset and tire hight changed to account for larger size.

This is simple.. think of it this way and it will be more clear. When you lower the car you have not changed the travel limits of the suspension. Still can compress as low as stock. Also can droop as far. You have only added artificial bump. So if the car was going to rub stock it will rub lowered. The difference is the time spent at that lower position is usually more. Where stock it would only hit rarely, it now after lowered might be more common.

On the wheels 18*8 is pretty big but if you keep the offset around 42mm on the 8" and go with a 225 40 tire it should be fine. change that offset to 35mm and you will have some clearance issues.

Hope that helps.

I now have the ASA JH8 which is not 18x8(7.5" I think) and use 225/40/18's, the ones I just sold to Cole, the Fondmetals were 18x8.

If they set out too far (low offset num) they will rub 2 places front.. Up at the top of the fender apex. You can feel the plastic bump in there. It will grind off. In the rear of the wheelwell there is a screw stud that holds the mudflap on some of the early cars it is long and will cut the tire when at full turn. If for example 235/45-18 on 8" with 35mm tire will hit body and rub solid at the top.

In the rear the bumper / body interface will hit first. It might hit at the front too. Mostly on the outer edge on the bumper corner. There is not much you can do with that one without it looking bad.
