Intake mod problem

I bought two 3" 90 degree aluminum intake tubes and went straight from the turbo inlet with a 2"-3" silicone adapter and attached the other pipe on the end of that with another silicone piece. So I had 3" aluminum intake tubing from the turbo inlet to the inside of the fenderwall with a cone filter on the end. My problem is, when I opened my hood the silicone adapter at the turbo inlet was smoking, and mushy. The heat from the exhaust is too much for it. Any suggestions? The stock rubber tube that comes from the airbox never gets soft. Right now I have just removed my airbox and have one 90 degree bent tube and the cone filte

Are you sure the coupler you got was actually silicone? Is it a 4 ply coupler/reducer?

You can probably get one that'd work just fine from www.hightempsilicone.com.

Don't know what it is. It was like $7 at the parts store.

good (and real) silicone hose will cost way more than $7. the turbo operates at the exhaust temp (well over 1000 degrees F). Most anything will melt at that point. If you want the real stuff you gotta spend the $$
